Hi ladies!  I'm thinking of going back to a relaxer because I'm tired of my texturized look.  I know that you aren't supposed to put a relaxer over a texturizer, but has anyone ever done this?  And if so, how did it turn out?  If I get it done I would be going to a salon to have it applied.  Is there anyway they can put it on my roots at the beginning of the process and then on the ends for a couple minute at the end to give the entire head a relaxed look?

I tried to do a search on this topic, but the search feature isn't working.Angry

Thanks ladies!

From my eperience

MY hair BROKE off badly after I put a texturizer over a relaxer.

I let my hair grow back into its natural state and vowed that I would never relax again....so I started texturizing

....................I then grew tired of texturizing because I wanted my hair straighter, so I went to a proffessional hair stylist for advice. Believe it or not, she told me it was OK to put a mild relaxer over a texturizer but NOT the reverse. Ever since that day, I slowly moved from a mild to normal and I have never had any problems.

Thanks!  That helps a lot.  Since I know it's possible I'll talk to a stylist.  Thanks again!

I recently tried putting a relaxer overa texturizer. The roots get straight. But the ends where the texturizer is remains curly. So far I have relaxed my hair 3 times and it continues this same pattern. Once the hair gets a little longer I will cut the texturized part out. It did not make my hair come out though. I currently keep it conditioned and plaited under a wig while goingthrough transition phase. Good luck to you.

A texurizer is just a weaker strength of a relaxer so you should let a professional make the transition for you so you won't overprocess your hair which will cause damage. I have an appointment today because I am also tired and want my hair straight and continue to keep it trimmed, conditioned, moisturized etc. & you will be fine.

To give a texturizer you use the same relaxer that you would for a straight relaxer you just don't leave it on as long and I use a different type of combs to break it down depends on the hair, but it is the same product.

Have you considered pressing or having your hair pressed? I went from the Browner Bros Curl to pressing then to relaxers with no hair loss. My hair dresser taught me how to condition and press in between visits and from there to a relaxer (she applied). My best advise is to find someone that you trust who will tell YOU  how to take care of your hair in between visits. HTH
