everyone got pissy drunk at one professional conference I attended after I was employed

I was uncomfortable but rolled with it....I didn't get drunk but I did laugh and joke with my drunk coworkers and supervisors

i met the lead attorney for a major brand. she is pretty young...she told me you make your connection when you go out and that's how she recommends people.

i went to the after party after the conference gala, everyone was drunk...and i was still getting business cardsLOL many people were foreign and those europeans love to party.

networking goes against everything i love, which is sleeping and being lazy. it's work

we go to law schoolLOL
at my school they became consultants and also worked on wall street

I never knew people with degrees in history can work on wall street. Maybe I should try that. How did those people manage to get a job on wall street and doing what?

honestly i think it depends on the ranking of your school. school was highly ranked--so finance firms came

I think this must be true. I read something recently that said non-drinkers were promoted less LOL

I agree with that...in some cultures, you don't know if you've "sealed the deal" unless they invite you to dinner and drink with you.

I work with a lot of internationals particularly in Asia, if you don't get an offer (professional not personal!!) to go to dinner & drinking with the leads on a project, you didn't win the bid. Ermm

Plus when you make a personal connection with someone at a networking event/whatever, they're usually more likely to remember you than someone they met at an obligatory office setting/traditional business meeting.
