yeah the online search can be brutal
I did meet with a few people but I wasn't interested in what they were doing
Any other people I met along the way were great at giving advice, well not all, but they did not set me up with with any companies

I want to add that if your resume is full of bullet points, throw it out
Act is if you are writing a brief, 5 sentence (a little more or less) story about your past and current work experience, per position. Make it sound as interesting as possible instead of a boring listing of your tasks at work.
Also try to make your cover letters fit not only the position but the company as well
If you are applying for the same type of work during your search it makes sense that major edits are not required for every letter but your intro and closing paragraphs should always be unique
for both resume and cover letter, use keywords that are in the job description

that's great Rockstar! i'm glad things are coming together for you..
My undergraduate was premed majoring in biology and bioethics... i decided 4th year I didn't wanna do pre-med anymore (infact i decided i wanted to do business earlier but my parents wouldn't let me switch) anyhoo i figured public health would be the most logical next step... excepttttt it wasn't lol i can't imagine working for a community health center with my classmates
I am looking into consulting.. applied to 3 places and got a second interview at a boutique firm.. i'm also looking into pharmas as well.. |
Congrats OP! God willing I will also be graduatign this semester with my MSPH.
I agree with those who have suggested CDC/other government jobs....also if you are willing to move down south, the Raleigh-Durham area in NC has plenty of PH opportunities
Good luck!

I was hired to work a beat while still in undergrad. Made me feel all extra accomplished when I graduated and avoided the unemployed after college statistic. Life was good. Moved into a good neighborhood. Nice place. Went on some vacations. Wasn't on BHM and other online places all that much cuz I was gettin it! Well, im back to posting on BHM Now I'm freelancing (mostly doing photography and video stories) until something permanent comes about again. Giving me the time to seriously put work into this novel.
