@samone - do you have an idea of what you want to do next (ideal job title) or are you still feeling it out? i want to start my own nonprofit but unsure of what area i want to focus in, so am still trying to feel it out and volunteer at different places to get an idea of what i want to do.
@nyc- are you in a firm here in dc? if i remember correctly you were moving to take a job here. how are you liking it? im sure the dynamics are a bit different from ny.
i work in the nonprofit field, but come across SO many people of different professions. because i am the executive director of one, we are always partnering with folks for my nonprofit and am so lucky to meet and network with folks in top positions across various fields. i know so many partners, lawyers its ridic. so i am always happy to make connections for folks.

senior analyst (short term goal) I feel like I should have been offered this already to be honest, if I were a white guy I would have been offered this, I think lol your nonprofit goal sounds great! after you get up and running I could be your program evaluator

Hey SW. same firm.. just relocated to a different office. So yeah I'm in DC now. I haven't been here long enough to form a fair opinion yet.. but the dynamics are definitely different than the NY office. From their day to day operations to I think right now.. they are still feeling me out b/c I'm literally the new kid on the block... but once my "newness" wears down-- I'm sure I'll have a more favorable outlook on this office b/c right now-- *meh*

I have a meeting set up with my boss next month to go over my development plan again
my first dp was created and reviewed two months after I was hired two years ago. becoming a senior analyst was listed as my short term goal.
when I applied for my current job, senior analyst was not listed on the site

thanks, samone. and yes, i will def have to look you up when i get to that point with my nonprofit.
senior analysts are needed in a lot of fields, especially fed. govt. (not sure if you want to go that route) or DC govt. agencies. consultant firms as well. good luck with your search!

i
think the best networking is at charitable events or happy hour/after
hour events where people are more at ease. however, i always encourage
joining/attending those professional clubs, conferences, etc.
