I don't know I feel like atleast with a backpack I can tote it on my back which seems easier to me than hurting my shoulder or having the bag slip off my shoulder all the time which is always what happens to me with shoulder bags. Plus atleast once my child no longer needs a diaper bag the backpack can still be used for something else if it lasts that long

not ghetto but i wouldn't find it convenient. you can just buy a cheap big purse in like nylon from Target and use it as a diaper bag.  you can always use a nylon bag bc they're so low maintenance.

Just get a diaper bag that has two straps like a book bag. I'm sure they make those.

And do you wear it across your chest, like diagonally? Or straight down the arm?

I usually do both. Call it weird though but I have scoliosis and for some reason wearing backpack type stuff hurts my back less than shoulder bags.

this actually makes sense because backpacks (in theory) evenly distribute the weight on each shoulder whereas a shoulder bag is more weight on one shoulder.
I have very mild scoliosis too and this was my problem in grade school because i used totes instead of backpacks
