You just kinda have to start valuing experiences more than materials. Make a journal and write down how much you actually spend and on what. Then set a monthly limit on the materialistic things you buy, then after a while make the limit smaller and smaller. (I do this with calories and it was easier to make changes I needed). Also maybe put your money somewhere where you can't get it easily, so you can be forced to think before you buy something you don't need.

Being materialistic has pros and cons... but it doesnt seem to be something to easily get rid of. My friend is the opposite of me. I'm generally content.. and so I have nothing to show for it.. like things I should have seriously acquired by now. She's the opposite, has a lot of nice sh*t, but it leads to a lot of stress and unhappiness
Go to Africa and live there for a summer maybe?

Jr, what do you hope the result of your conversation with them is? What are you looking to happen? Do you want reassurance about your new beliefs? Do you sort of want reassurance and proof of your old/their beliefs? Or do you not know, but it's just weighing heavy on your soul?
*doesnt expect you to answer me cause you never do *

Ok, jr . Well since it's in your heart, I wish you the best with it, and I hope youre able to bring yourself to do it. I saw this show on the history channel some years ago about how the Bible was put together, and how a lot of writings were left out, and about how some things were chosen. I wish I could find it. I want to watch it again now that I'm older

lol. The full story is too ratchet for BHM. But after all the ratchetness and disappointment with how superficial I was, I just stopped everything. I didn't want to be like that anymore. But I went full retard....to a place of sloppiness, baggy clothes and nothing name brand. I am slowly working myself out of that pit. I suggest volunteering. It'll keep over consumption in check via awareness, but you wont go to the dark side.

Speaking of which, there is this 5 part series starting on March 3, Sunday nights about the Bible from start to finish. It's made from the guy who makes survivor (mark burnett or whatever).. and it looks entertaining (think "The 300" movie)
I was skeptical of his motives at first, but he came to talk at church and seemed really genuine. I will be watching, I admit i need to learn more about the Bible and this might be a good start
