it's not so much as best beef, i just rarely eat beef. usually my chilli is ground turkey. 

either way, while the extra fat can lend flavor when browning ground, i prefer leaner grounds-- 97 meat : 3 fat. people i know usually use 85:15 or 75:25. 

you could also use ground sirloin or chuck. Smile

I prefer ground sirloin, Grace aint bout that hamburger meat that says 30% fat content on the paackage.
