I wish I had let go of attachment, but it is hard, especially if you are into the person. My attachments are usually love related. Heart doesn't listen to the head very well, and I don't control my emotions very well.
I learned recently that something that I wanted and asked for for a while wasn't what I needed, and reading this stuff was refreshing. Wish I had found out about stoicism sooner.

i like to convince myself that life is a journey and that everything is for the purpose of our soul's progression. operative word, CONVINCE.
i have just as much evidence that it is than i do that it's not so i go with what feels best.
anyway, when it comes to matters of love and such, i try to accept that people come and go in our lives for a reason. for us to grow and learn some lesson that we maybe didn't learn in a past life. i always find a silver lining. if we dig deep enough, we can always find one i think

i remember oprah used to always say "ok, universe. what am i supposed to learn from this situation?"
i'm on that same wavelength. it's so funny. when i go back 10 years ago, i can almost for certain see WHY i had certain experiences.

But some experiences we cause, they don't happen to us. For example, a girl who is dating a man whom from the beginning shows signs of abuse but she remains with him because she thinks she is in love and can't find better created her misery - I mean, she is the co-author of her own misery, because she lets the guy abuse her and does not leave.
Other things happen to us, like driving in the speed limit, being a great driver and suddenly getting hit by a car head-on because the jerk was drinking and driving.

we think we cause these things but maybe we or spirit our soul create these experiences for a reason.
the new age folk like to say that our soul incarnates on purpose. for our higher good or for the higher good for those close to us. sometimes the lessons are not for us but for others. creepy sh*t.
plus there's the whole walking around the same mountain for 40 years thing. we repeat the same situations in different packages until we learn what we need to learn then we move on to the next lesson.
supposedly.
i think derri would be good to answer this.

I wholeheartedly believe that there are no beginnings and no ends, just the transformation of energy.

Neka that quote it's one of the reasons I feel the way that I do. I've spent too much time asking "why" instead of just living.

this is crazy but sometimes i wish we all either had the same face or wore burquas so we wouldn't judge based on appearances. i think i miss connections with like mined people because of perception. tipsy talk.
