I just snipped off some heat damage in the front from my transitioning days. Twists make it so much easier to see. It might be about all gone. Whatever wasn't spiraling to the ends got cut. I feel much better now.

I clipped off a little more today, mostly at the front. Some of the twists at my front hairline are a lot shorter now. Instead of trailing off into heat-damaged infinity, I have nice, blunt, coiled ends like in the rest of my hair. My only concern is with those areas sticking up when wearing ponytails, puffs, etc.

I doubt I'll ever put heat in my hair again.

This may sound strange, but someone posted about wearing one's hair in a "high bun" in order to retain their length.

I'm noticing as well, that the ladies with ultra long hair wear it in a protective style as a bun on top of their head.

Someone on another forum said the bun was tight in order to stretch or pull the hair to make it grow.

i don't think they wear a "tight" bun at all.  I think they wear the bun on top of their head so that they can sleep at night without breakage.

As long as the hair is piled up on the head, you can sleep on either side or on the back.

I had my hair in bantu knots or twists or anything that bulged, and i'm realizing that the breakage was usually where i slept on it.

Now that i have enough hair to put in a high bun (poodle turd), i'm much more comfortable when i sleep without laying on a knot or braid that might just break off if i keep laying on it every night.

just a thought?

I don't think I'm gonna make it to the end of this protective styling challenge. I miss my wash n goes and my puffs. Well, one month is long enough.

I want those thick bangs, not those side swept because I *always* wanted bangs, but since my hair is not straight, I am afraid I will have to flat iron the bangs daily or have sh*tty looking bangs.

Not sure what to do.

Why can't you wear twists now?

I like doing twist on freshly shampooed hair and take it down when it is dry.  This weather is not letting my hair be great at the moment.
