I feel like at this point, I will never go to a hair salon.
It's like everything I need to know is on youtube and I would rather blame myself than have to cut someone.
I can see someone trying to rip through my curls and coils with a fine tooth comb and I just can't ...

I'm a people watcher- not the creepy stare ya down stalker type- plus I deal with folk on the regular in my job- so I'm always seeing people's reactions to things- especially change. Now, yall know I'm rocking Cleo straight for the cold months. The gamut of reactions at work and other settings has been hilarious and some rather unfortunate.
Some women(across the spectrum of races) look with admiration and some respond with questions and kind compliments. Then, of course, there are some women(most AA) that give me serious stank face. LOL and SMH. It was like really?! You come into the restaurant, glance around, our eyes lock, and her face breaks down with the stank face. I smh and looked back into the Hubby's eyes, flung my hair off my shoulder and finished our meal. Lawd, please help folk with THEIR issues!

why IS this?! My SO loves my kinky/curly wigs. He says it's the most natural style on me. I have compliments by every one else, but as soon as "sistah" or a mexican female walks up? They lock eyes, then give the stank eye. I hold their gaze and they finally look away. The mexican females are even funnier. The first thing they look at is their boyfriend/husband, who's usually openly admiring - or even saying "hello"... so it's obvious to me, that these females have some SERIOUS insecurities - whether it's our own hair - or in my case - even if it isn't our own hair.

^^^ Ladies, it really all boils down to jealousy and insecurity. I work in an area where there is a high concentration of Jews(orthodox and unorthodox), Russians, Hispanics, and Black folk. I notice that women with hair issues (across the spectrum) easily give the stank face. Those women who have deent or great hair give the stank eye less.
I'm the type of chick that freely gives out compliments when my eyes catch some beauty or things of interest, so although I've experienced the ugly, I'll keep right on doing what I do.

Besides, sometimes you just HAVE to say something because it's too fierce to go unnoticed. Once saw a lady with a kiss shaved into her hair and the lips colored bright red and the rest of her hair was dyed in to a brownish/orange-ish color, she had a sophisticated flat top kind of style, it was just ... I can't even describe it, it just looked gorgeous and then she had on this fierce leather legging with a short jacket, basically looking photo shoot ready. Anyway she and whomever(perhaps herself!) was responsible for that creation of art on her head needed to be complimented. Had I said nothing I'd be committing a crime against hair-fierceness-recognition and the Awe-committee.

I am just wondering why some with natural hair would use bobbi pins in their hair a lot.My hair would seriously break off I used that many bobbi pins to keep my roots "flat"

really thinking about getting a texurizer but thinking it would just be a waste cuz i wear my in french braids 100% of the time so that might be slippery to even grip maybe i should try a wash n go and actually wear it out it see if i like my hair down but hate hair hanging down maybe in a year or two i'll know. so happy i finally got my deep conditioner routine down cuz using deep conditioner on freshly washed hair was not working now i use a rinse out condition and detangle then deep condition love the results now.
