I saw my cousin at a party tonight. Her hair was beautiful. I was like, see, people see your hair and think their hair can do this relaxed if they do it right but not everybody's hair can be like that. My brother was like, see, that's how it's supposed to be, why can't the rest of these chicks out here get it right. Her friend does her hair every two weeks. I wouldn't even tell her to go natural. She's doing relaxed the right way.

It's genetics. I have a cousin who's not relaxed but bleaches & colors her hair to death. Still thick & long. Her mother, sister, grandma etc all have naturally thick long hair. It isn't reality for 99% of people. I remember this white girl was going through a coloring phase, every week she came to school with a different color and everybody was complimenting her on it. Her hair deteriorated before our eyes lol. About 2-3 months later she was rocking a pixie because all her hair fell out.

When you have great genetics no matter what state your hair is in what you do to it it'll still look better than others hair lol. Everybody else's hair falls out because the crap is damaging as heck & unnatural so it's inevitable.

@ Journey it wasn't just long. That sh*t had body, thick, was swaying, soft to the touch, not stiff or greasy, held her curls...never seen anything like it.

Your description makes me think of my high school history teacher. She was in her late 50s early 60s and her hair was freaking amazing. And it was gray too lol, I like when old folks embrace their gray hair. We legit used to talk about her hair all day in class. We had never seen a woman period with hair pass their butt with that thickness let alone an older black woman. Most older people's hair starts falling out by that time

Formula / Ingredient Change Alert: Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner

I sent the following, except the chart, to TJ’s.  Feel free to do the same if you have dry hair like me that does not abide non-water soluble silicones and high levels of ingredients known to strip moisture from hair (dimethicone and citric acid to be exact).  Katie-kaboom is NOT amused!!!

See below.  Pic of ingredient list at the bottom of post after chart.

“I am a loyal TJ’s shopper and noticed that the ingredient list for one of my favorite TJ’s products changed for the worse. Nourish Spa Conditioner’s ingredient list increased and the new ingredients are ones I simply cannot apply to my hair. Also, the organic ingredients moved from “organic” to “organic extracts.”

Ingredients of particular concern include:

1) Moving Cetyl Alcohol and Citric Acid to among the first ingredients, especially citric acid; AND

2) Dimethicone (a non-water soluble silicone);

Citric Acid and dimethicone, over time, are not good for those with dry hair or that are pursuing natural/near natural hair washing and conditioning regimes. Nourish Spa Conditioner’s original formula was a “holy grail” product for those with dry hair and/or pursuing natural hair care.

I respectfully request you return to your original formula, or at the very least, remove dimethicone entirely from the new formula AND place citric acid in its former place on the ingredients list. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

Kiyana, a loyal TJ’s shopper”
