Haven't watched yet but my African friend says it's so them worrying about their hair won't interfere with their school work. I always figured Africans kept it short because they didn't want to deal with it because it was too nappy. Of course BHM didn't like that. But it's always the people with kinkier hair who keep it short, not the ones with looser hair. But then again when am I ever right? *watches*

She is so pretty. I want to go to Africa so bad. I was supposed to go to Toto this year but my friend had a change of plans. Maybe next year.

Although white or Indian hair is a lot easier to care for than black hair (I guess) I think that's discriminatory to only make the black girls cut their hair. I was under the impression these were all black schools run by black people. I'm starting to think it's not about their school work at all. My friend also told me they frown on people who have locs over there and view them as lowlifes and criminals. But he said it's different if you are American with locs because it is a different culture. My no natural hair, no dreadlocks? Yeah somethin ain't right. This sounds more like oppression or racial shaming to me.
