whelp..
i can wear my hair in 2 braids after co-washing in its reverted state. The two braids aren't spectacular, but i don't have to scrape and scrounge for hair in order to put it up anymore.
Before? i had to blow dry it out for length, and wear extension hair in order for the hair to remain braided without coming undone. This only lasted for about a week. The hair soon reverted, and the shorter length began to come out of the extensions. Plus there were obvious thin areas that showed my scalp in the light. Traction alopecia is a b*&*ch.
The crown is not as thick as the back, but at least i now have enough hair on the crown that isn't "see thru" even in it's reverted state when braided.
All those years, i thought i was so sexy and so cute.. over 15 years of weave abuse. I didn't want to admit i had 2 problems. traction alopecia, and addiction to hair that wasn't mine. my weaves were hanging on to pretty much "nothing".. and those beauticians STILL kept right on braiding what was left very tightly to get that weave to stay on.
For anyone suffering from traction alopecia? my path has been supplementation, low manipulation, diet, exercise, and wearing wigs. 5 years.. man.. 5- 7 damn years to get a decent head of hair back.
