Probably because she knows Ms. "I'm not a black model" is going to get her ass ripped at the review part of the day.

many use black as a synonym for AA which is not entirely correct or incorrect, which is why you get these type of responses
Are you black? No I'm Dominican
Are you black? No I'm Jamaican
Are you black? No I'm Bajan
Are you black? No I'm Senagalese
Are you black? No I'm Nigerian
Are you black? No I'm mixed
Are you black? No I'm biracial
Are you black? No I'm cablinasian
who really gives a what others wanna call themself.

What the hell is cablinasian? It sounds like a really odd hybrid. Why truncate like that, just say "I'm black, asian & caucasian" (I'm guessing that's what the ca in cablinasian stands for.

yeah but black doesnt really mean all that much. its just a color white
people used to tell you what they think you look like. theres no land
or wealth attached to it. you cant be upset if people around the world
who look like you, come here and refuse to call themselves a misnamed
color.

Isn't this the one from the BX? Girl bye with that "I don't think I'm black". I'm all for claiming every drop of my diverse ancestry, but that doesn't mean you reject the obvious to embrace the other.
|
She didn't say that she doesn't think that she's black. She was saying that she didn't want to be pigeonholed as a black girl model because she thinks that she has a look that could appeal to many different markets.

The other girl was smiling the entire time, even when Wendy asked how she has 2 children by 2 different daddies at 21.
I'm addicted to the Face so I really want to clarify lol

Marketing herself as a black girl model' would probably lead to less sophisticated modeling jobs. I can see why she would want to avoid that label.

Isn't she on team Naomi though? I only saw the first pre-season episode
so I haven't had a chance to watch any of the full season shows.
I
get where people go with that. But being "just a black model" is only
as limiting as the agency you sign with and the pictures you take. If
you don't search for an agency that doesn't pigeon hole, you get what
you get. If you only want to accept castings from Rocawear and the like,
then you can't be mad that you get pigeon holed as "just a black
model". If when you do TFCD, you constantly go for stereotypical "black
girl" imagery, then yeah, you'll never get asked to do anything that's
considered a high profile editorial.

She's on Karolina Kurkova's team. Naomi was being more dramatic than usual because she wanted the girls on her team to win that particular challenge and she took each opportunity to point out the other teams' flaws.
