When someone is driving drunk and their adult passengers are killed do you think the driver should shoulder all the (moral) responsibility? This will sound like a rude question, I know. But I just watched this video. I don't know if all the people in the car were drunk or not but it's safe to assume they were. If any of the others were driving, they would be in the same position she is in, being vilified. Sometimes people make mistakes and she made a horrible mistake, the main difference between her and them is that she survived.

True. I think about this when I see stories about people who survive dui crashes. Everyone blames the driver, but the other people in the car were drunk too. They knew the driver was not sober, but they still made the decision to get in the car with them.

Ideally, they should take a cab or make a set person a designated driver and if you see them trying to drink, stop them. It really depends on the situation. I would have to look at stuff on a case by case basis.

That video breaks my heart. They are being too hard on that girl. It would be different if she had hurt or killed people in another vehicle. If they can't forgive her then obviously they can't forgive their deceased children either. They are only mad at her because she lived.

It sucks but she's the one who ended up being the one to drive the car.  Everybody in that car had to be drunk because nobody sober would have allowed her to drive.  How these drunk folks came to the decision that she'd be the one to drive...iono.   I would like to know the passengers blood alcohol levels tho.

Had someone else survived she might have still been the only one charged because she was the only one behind the wheel.   I will say had at least one other survived...she might have had more ...support(?) in her corner?  The families would not have gone quite as hard at her if there had someone else there to give credence ot the fact that they were all fucced up and high and they all made the drunk ass decision to get in the car.  If that made sense.

I feel bad for her but then I don't.  We all know from young that it is a bad idea to drive drunk.  Had it been one of the other families I'm sure her family would go just as hard on someone else if she had been the one killed.

*shrugs*  I feel bad for her but then I don't.

Yes the driver shoulders all the moral responsibility.  She could have refused to drive, period, but she didn't.  Doesn't matter what the state of the others were in drunk or sober.  When you assume the wheel, you assume all responsibility and lives of those in the car.

I don't know if it's right but normally in car accidents drivers survive whether they're drunk or not. I guess its like, how did she find a way to maneuver the car to protect herself if she was that drunk but everybody else died? Even at that level she still had enough presence of mind to protect her own life while driving, but not enough to not drive at all or not enough  to prevent the others' deaths.

Perhaps it was luck of the draw?

^^or possibly the others didn't have seat belts on and she did.  The vid didn't specify how they died so we can only guess...end result still the same.
