Im guessing from that adventure i can assume 2 things
1) PM is really fckin strong (compared to other phytos where you can take 3000+mg a day and barely have side effects)
2) im sensitive to it and/or my hormones are in the right place to be getting NBE benefits from it
:-) hoping for the best!

I'm so tired of finding out new information on this type of stuff -__- I'm really bout to give up. This is getting too difficult to be informed about.
I'm only supposed to have my period every 3 months or less via birth control regulation... so is this gonna screw with that? I already switched to a lower dose of birth control and my body is all confused and half having a period for an eon now... So how is this going to effect my hormones in that respect?

I decided to stop taking that pm i bought after taking it for a few a days. I dont understand the whole stopin g for ovulation thing and i don't want to mess up my period, if i havent already. I read your supposed to take it for 15 days after your period then stop and repeat but when i first took my first pm capsule i didnt know that so i took it for like a week but i stoped it and idk if ima finish the bottle, probably not. I didnt feel that brand working anyways. Im taking sp instead and I have read in an sp forum that many woman got breast growth from it so i hope i do too.

Well, I found the article below and after reading it I checked my notes. The first time I took pueraria was 15 days before my period and in 6 days after I started taking 500mg, I was already fitting on a 32C bra, when I had been fitting only on a 32B.I stopped taking pueraria after two months, started again this month on my period and noticed no difference.

"The 3 main ways to take PM.
"#1. The reason why people advocate the taking of Pueraria Mirifica
during the first 15 days of your cycle is that since the phytoestrogens
present in Pueraria Mirifica are to serve as additional estrogen in your
body, it makes sense to introduce the additional estrogen alongside the
body’s natural boost of human estrogen. Also, since it is progestin
that should be dominant in the second-half of your cycle – the Luteal
Phase – it makes no sense to interfere with that by introducing excess
estrogen.
#2. Still, others recommend that Pueraria Mirifica should be taken in
the latter half of the cycle, after ovulation and during the Luteal
Phase. The reasoning behind this is that introducing excess estrogen –
on top of what the body is naturally producing – can either overwhelm
the body’s estrogen receptors and be counterproductive OR that the extra
estrogen will be too much for the body to handle and worsen PMS and
menstrual cramps. These Luteal Phase advocates reason that since the
body’s production of estrogen decreases during the Luteal Phase, it
makes sense to supplement what is reduced with a potent phytoestrogen.
#.3 Still yet others recommend that Pueraria Mirifica can be taken
regularly, everyday, just as any other supplement. The basis of this
reasoning is that that was how it has been consumed by the Thai
population for over a century and it has had no adverse side effects. In
fact, Thailand has one of the lowest incidents of breast cancer in the
world. Advocates of month-long Pueraria Mirifica claim that the whole
argument between whether the Follicular Phase or the Luteal Phase is
best for Pueraria Mirifica is based on cycles that are meaningful for
contraceptives but inapplicable for Pueraria Mirifica.
So, there you have it. The 3 most popularly recommended ways of taking Pueraria Mirifica.
Our recommendation? Listen to your body, experiment, observe, and choose what works for you."
From that I conclude that maybe it's best for me to start taking it 15 days before my period starts...and stop.

Im not understanding the luteal or follicular pahse. I dont know when they occur. I started taking pm while i wasnt on my period like 2 weeks ago, and i still am taking it but dont have my period yet. Is it ok if i continue to take it even though i have my period and then continue? Thanks! |
hey Laura, I just saw this post of yours and then I see your newest post saying you wanna quit! don't give up yet, you need to first try before you quit! Midna is the expert in here on pm and she says you should tale on your period and quit on ovulation day. Some girls take it daily though. I found this ovulation calculator ( http://www.babycenter.com/ovulation-calculator) that you could try. But after I read the post above that I copied in here about the 3 ways one can take pm, I decided to take 2 weeks before my period, because that's what I did the first time I took it and my boobs grew a cup like that! I kept taking pm for almost 2 months with no results, so I stopped for 2 months and now I restarted. If you didn't see any difference while taking it on the past 2 weeks, maybe you should take a break and then follow Midna's advice for a couple months. If you don't see any changes, try pm before or after your period ends or if you prefer, give up pm.

Alright, biology lesson everybody! I know the phases of a woman's
reproductive cycle can be confusing. Don't feel ashamed in any way, I
delayed trying PM for the longest time purely because I did not
understand the process in taking it and you ladies are absolutely right
to not take PM when you don't fully understand how to take it. Safety
first! To start off, please pay attention to this informative chart on the reproductive cycle! As you can see, the average menstrual cycle a woman goes through is exactly 28 days long. Day one of the cycle begins on the first day you menstruate.
Your cycle ends right before you begin menstruating. Remember,
menstruation signifies the end of your current cycle and beginning of a new one. Now the reproductive cycle consists of three phases: The Follicular Phase, Ovulation, and the Luteal Phase. Call it FOL to make it easier to remember if you like.
- The Follicular Phase
is the phase where the uterus sheds its uterine lining meant for a
fertilized egg through menstruation and rebuilds a new tissue lining for
the next egg to arrive during ovulation. This is where you can start
taking PM however if you're taking PM while menstruating, please take a low dose.
As you can see on the chart, estrogen is naturally at its lowest when
you are menstruating. Raising it dramatically during this time can cause
severe cramping, dizziness, and nausea. Some women simply cannot take
PM while menstruating due to their body or the brand of PM they are
taking. This is perfectly fine, simply take PM near the end of your
period or just start after you've finished. When your period is
finished, you can take the regular standard dose!
- Ovulation is
that special 12 to 24 hour period where you are completely fertile
because your ovary has released an egg that is awaiting a sperm to
fertilize it! It is important you stop taking PM some 2-3 days before ovulation
so your body has a drop in estrogen which signifies ovulation to begin.
If you take PM too close to ovulation, you will extend your follicular
phase and delay ovulation because your body has not gotten the signal to
ovulate due to high estrogen levels and no rise in progesterone levels.
The delay of ovulation means the delay of your luteal phase and
obviously the delay of your next period. Your cycle is an assembly line
we're doing our best not to interrupt or delay. PM has the strength and
potential to interrupt so we're being as cautious as we can.
So the day is over, the egg has dissolved, and has been reabsorbed by the uterus wall. Ovulation is over.
- The Luteal Phase officially begins and is usually 14 days long. We are not taking
PM during this time. This is when estrogen naturally falls down so I
would never recommend taking PM during the luteal phase. This is the
time when progesterone naturally rises and falls down with estrogen
until both female hormones are at a low as the cycle ends and the new
one begins by menstruation.
Basically ladies, PM is to only be
taken during the follicular phase for the sake of respecting the body's
natural hormonal rhythms and for the sake of maintaining hormonal
balance. To take such a strong phytoestrogen when estrogen is not
naturally due to rise is not wise. There are exceptions to where
someone can take PM in a different way: They could be in menopause, on a
progesterone birth control like the progesterone birth control pill or
the depo provera shot (I am on this right now), or even transgender.
Because the bodies in these states are not operating in their natural
function, they have room to take PM differently. But if you are a
pre-menopausal cisgender woman whose cycle is in no way altered by
birth control, please take PM in the safe way.
- Also one last
thing, when it comes to PM, a full PM cycle is three months. So you can
take PM in the follicular phase every month for three months but after
that, take a month break. Do a milk thistle cleanse, get your hormones
checked, if you feel the estrogen is a bit on the dominant side, take an
herb that promotes progesterone like Vitex/Chaseberry for the month.
Then when that month is over, start a new PM cycle on your next period
and reap the benefits!
Hormonal balance is key, ladies! Hope you enjoyed this lesson! Class dismissed!
