Hello Ladies,

I'm so freakin' upset right now! I finally rec'd my lace closure. It was the most beautiful hair! The lace matched me so perfectly. Well, I get right down to business. I start by bleaching the knots. I left it on for about 6 mins the 1st time and nothing! So I try it again for anothe 6 mins and most of the hair fell out!
My full LF should be here w/in the next 2 weeks so please help a newbie out! Any advise that you can offer would be appreciated. Should I have sealed the knots first? Did I leave the bleach on too long? The knots still were not lightened.
On a positive note, thank goodness this was just the closure and not the LF.

I used the creme bleach for facial hair like brows and mustaches from the drugstore.

hmmmm  i've not heard of using that.  For your lf use just regular powder hair bleach and developer from a beauty supply store.  I'm not sure if that could be why????

Maybe someone else can chime in.   I use just regular hair bleach from the beauty supply store by clariol and 30 or 40 vol developer.

Well that's definitely what I'll do next although I'll be terrified to death! How long do you normally leave the bleach on? What color hair do you have? Mine was 1B.

You don't seal the knots first because then the root will have a coating on it and the bleach won't be able to penetrate! You seal when you are finished with everything that you want to do with the closure.

So I guess it's a combo of using the wrong product and leaving it on too long.
Marie do you know how long I should leave the bleach on?

dejee  there isn't a set time.  You pretty much have to watch it.  It depends on if its been colored before and what other processing the hair might have had.   But if its a 1b then you just want to do it until the knots look at least a medium brown or light brown.

edited to say:  yeah i agree.  I kind of think the product is the reason the hair fell out.
