Series?

There aren't many I've seen other than The Killing and Bates Motel. I like them both but I stopped mid-2nd season and haven't started back up again. Guess I didn't like them that much after all

Y'all should post movie recommendations too

I just watched Karla and that was interesting... made me wanna cuss a yt bish out and it's based off a "true story"

The Lying Game
The Witches of East End
House of cards

I tried with OiTNB but the main blonde character irks my soul for some reason, I think its white entitlement.

PG Orange is the New Black really is a good show.  Piper gets her white privilege card pulled (away) halfway through season 1 and hilarity ensues.  The show has great characters black and white.

I just became aware of Damages

No idea it was on TV for five years.   Glenn Close is slick and a master strategizer and Ellen shows us what's behind white women tears, ruthlessness

It has 59 episodes and I've been marathoning it

I've been enjoying Leverage. Its light-hearted but has all the spy elements: a grifter, hacker, thief, hitter, and mastermind.

I really don't think anything is touching House of Cards right now, on TV or online. I'm mad I got through them so fast.

it is TC!

I was like how could I not know about this too kfoxx

Let's just say that Olivia from scandal is trying to be patty hewes and isn't doing it right. Olivia should have the same strategy moves but be loveable and white hat and she'd be even more of a hit

It does compare to House of Cards or Boss.. out of the three you'd cross Patty last. Don't play with her

Posted By: rickysrose

oh and Boss

Best character Kelsey Grammer has played in his entire career

I think the brain tumor angle killed the show. He's good enough to watch being bad for no good reason

Purp I'm a huge charmed fan so and witches of East End is pretty good so far.  These all go without saying if you love witches, werewolves and vampires all at onceLOL the following is perfect:

1. Buffy
2. Angel
3. Vampire Diaries
4. The Originals - Excellent way to spin off Vampire Diaries IMO.

On Demand - Penny Dreadful

I'm thinking to start Sleepy Hollow or Once Upon a Time

Both good shows ND (Sleepy and OUaT).  Penny Dreadful is killing me.  I can never follow what's going on.  I need to watch that on the couch with no distractions.  I like the Frankenstein monster version a LOT.

i like tyrant of course the hero's only redeeming qualities are that he's American with blue eyes and favors democratic type tactics

He doesn't pray or speak Arabic uhmm hmmm

But it's still interesting PR

Posted By: Alias_Avi
Date Posted: Jul 22 2014 at 5:11pm
Ok, just finished the first episode of Tyrant

I can definitely see the White Supremacy/American exceptionalism themes throughout the show, especially with the main character being biracial with Blue eyes and having a White American wife and kids and being the "good guy" who shows the 'violent and heartless savages' how to be less tyrannical

I was ready to give this show a 'no thanks' BUT.... the ending threw me for a loop Shocked

Now this show is interesting. I think I'm gonna continue watching

All the being said, the main character is fine AF
I love shows that have to do with the Arab world for some reason

I don't like Tyrant at all.  I was drawn in by episode 1, but there are too too many flaws.

Also, no one waste your time on The Leftovers.

Eta: tyrant - the Arab characters are not really multi dimensional to me...the brother Jamal is an interesting character.  It caters too much to American sensibilities...everyone speaks in English, which is bizarre.  The lead character isn't even middle eastern.

TV has replaced film as the best visual representation of fiction. The best stories, directing, and acting is coming out of TV series nowadays, not movies. The only thing movies still have on lock are blockbusters, mostly because of the high budget effects, but shows like Game of Thrones are starting to pour money into special effects too.

Anyone seen True Detective?

I started True Detective but that's another show that I have to dedicate time to.  I'm always watching while working and get easily distracted.   This is going to be a couch marathon because I am loving the acting from Matthew and Woody.

Yes television used to be a no-go for big movie stars like this and now they are all over the place.  This has been a great thing for us the viewers.  Good production, great actors and pure entertainment.

In House of Cards you only have to worry about Francis and Claire

In Damages you have to worry about EVERYONE.  Watch your damn back, front and side.  sh*t!!!

I think Ellen is a spoiled ungrateful brat

Although I know why she feels a way and why she's distrustful

The way I see it, patty is usually ruthless for her clients and to crack bullies whereas Ellen is ruthless for herself or to screw patty

Hurry up kfoxx I'm conflicted!

Ricky I'm at S1:E8 and Ellen's claws haven't come out yet but I'm starting to see them.   She's seeming a bit vapid right now but that can be just as dangerous.

What epi are you on?

ricki I have to retract this statement.  The Forbisher team wins the No Morals Cup.  Patty is trying to do the right thing even if it means being a little less scrupulous.

and I repeat this statement:

"This show has me all over the place.  I can't figure out what's going to happen!"  Good sh*t!

as the season goes on forbisher is seen as small fries in the scheme of bad guys ... can you imagine!
Patty is stone cold ruthless but for her clients, for ultimate good reasons for the most part but Ellen is ruthless for Ellen or to mess with Patty

But Patty is baaaaad, laawd.  Ellen is a padwan, an apprentice in badness

Yeaaa I don't think I'm gonna continue watching this series

yeah I know they are trying to "humanize" Arab people for American audiences but making the redeeming qualities about the "arabs" be their "americaness" is not the right way

We're seeing right through them.

Jamal is a monster.   His wife only encourages his monstrosity. Bassam's wife is so bright eyes and bushy tailed. At the very least bassam should speak Arabic and pray and be sexier instead of just playing up blue eyes and reliance on the us embassy

Just finished Breaking Bad (yeah, I'm late)- drama

Then I had to check out Malcolm In The Middle (way late!)- comedy

House- medical drama

Hemlock Grove, Supernatural, Fringe -supernatural dramas

Orange Is The New Black, Leverage, Chuck, White Collar, Torchwood- comedy/drama

Eureka, Warehouse 13- sci fi

Psych- comedy

I stay on Netflix, and it seems that I have no life, but once I start a good series, I can't stop till its done! So now I have Damages cued up next.
