I could see myself asking someone to commit to a lifetime partnership with me. But a "traditional" proposal? No. The type of person I'd want wouldn't even want that.

I don't really believe in marriage as a thing for me. And I don't really believe in proposals.

I could see having a conversation about to the effect of "hey lets be in a committed monogamous long term relationship and mix our stuff together". And I have no problem being the one to start that conversation.

Not really against it per se...I just feel like I and another person can commit to be with one another and there's no need to get legally married. I'd see it as a need if there was something only married people could have that I/we needed.

Lifetime to me = as long as we're both happy and committed to the terms of our relationship. If that's forever, then great.

"Lifetime commitment" is what people mean by married

"hey lets be in a committed monogamous long term relationship and mix our stuff together" is what people mean when they propose marriage

If you don't want to codify it legally ok I get it ... but, especially if, you have kids are you going to draft a living will, power of attorney, make him/her beneficiary of your life insurance, executor of your children's trust, benefactor of all other trusts and your assets (will), etc?

A marriage cert covers most of that in one document. Not preparing the docs, would leave your wishes to chance or the govt or your parents or legal battle

Just something to think about

Used to have lovely hair (at least I thought so). I'll get back to waist someday I'm sure.

Not disciplined, just lazy. If it can be done in less time, with less hassle, then I'm all about it.

I dont know. The only things that I know that were messy & factual were from b4 the show started, around 2008 so it was way b4 she proposed and he curved her on the show. I dont know...

But it poses a very good question worth talking bout ..

I.e if you really love the person you're with does it matter who does the asking when it comes to wanting to spend the rest if your life with them..

Well the gesture of the proposal would weird me out tbh ijs

But I have no problems in a woman saying she wouldn't mind spending the rest of her life with me.

Then I'd propose

There is a difference between making a comment about interest in marital commitment with a person and proposing. IMO, yes who does the asking matters.

There are already many women out here buying their own engagement rings so I guess it's not too farfetched.
