This Dad Pummeled An 11-Year-Old Kid For Bullying His 9-Year-Old Autistic Son

A furious father escorted his 9-year-old autistic son onto a school bus late last week and proceeded to beat up an 11-year-old kid who had allegedly been bullying the boy.

The incident occurred on Friday morning in the Bay Area suburb of Richmond, Calif., http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/05/30/dad-attacks-richmond-bully-school-bus/" rel="nofollow - reports CBS San Francisco .

Police say the assailant, Burnis Hurd got on the bus with his son. Then, his son identified the boy who had been bullying him.

“The father grabbed the 11-year old by the hair, pulled hard and raised the child out of his seat, then shoved him on the side of the bus where the window meets the wall,” Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan told CBS San Francisco.

Police say Hurd, 44, also warned that he would kill the 11-year-old boy and also threatened some other kids on the bus for good measure.

The melee was not captured on videotape and the bus driver didn’t get involved. In fact, the bus driver never even bothered to report the incident. Instead, the 11-year-old kid informed the principal at Wilson Elementary School in Richmond, where both children are enrolled in a special education program.

The alleged bully ended up with a cheek abrasion and a gashed earlobe.

Hurd ended up in jail. He has been charged with child abuse and bodily injury to a child. As on Monday, he remained in jail pending a $50,000 bond.

The 11-year-old boy’s aunt and guardian, Shanika Moses, said she wants the mad dad “prosecuted to the fullest,” according to CBS.

Hurd might have fared infinitesimally better several hours down the road in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson City, where the city council narrowly rejected an ordinance that would have made bullying by children as young as 5-years-old a crime punishable by misdemeanor charges and fines of $100. http://dailycaller.com/2014/05/14/nanny-state-run-amok-police-will-now-ticket-charge-5-year-olds-for-bullying/" rel="nofollow - (RELATED: Nanny State Run Amok: Police Will Now Ticket, Charge 5-Year-Olds For Bullying)

The ordinance, which went down by a single vote, would have prohibited everyone over the age of five from making another person feel “terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed or molested.”

With all the stories about kids killing kids, bullying victims suicide rates, schools and school buses doing next to nothing to solve the problem......I can't say I blame him for his reaction. Clap

I feel for the dad, but you can't go around laying hands on other people's kids.  He should have instead talked to the 11 y/os parents first...or just talk but don't touch.

OP your title is misleading.  The 11 y/o wasn't pummeled, but he did get a good shakingLOL

I hope the autistic boy's father turns around and prosecutes her non mothering ass and her delinquent son to the fullest. He got what he deserved and I would've done the same. Fukc.

This is part of the reason why I want 3-5 kids. If ANY idiot child catches themselves trying to bully any one of my children, they won't have to deal with me. My kids will handle that.

lol…
my cousin was just talkin about how she'll fight a kid for her daughter

i told her to call me and that she cant get involved cus shes old.
this is when you get a cousin or sibling or something involved..

the father should have first tried to talk to the bus driver and parents/teachers…
i hope he doesnt get too much time.

How does the father know his son was really bullied? Maybe the kid made it up. Or even exaggerated the story.

What about the innocent kids that got roughed up?

That father was the real bully.

While i would be mad and out for blood if some adult attacked my baby, i can understand where he's coming from. Kids are crazy these days, 12 yr olds are stabbing classmates. *shrug*

Yup.

He should've done like that other dad and got a restraining order against the child.

I get why the dad was upset, but did he really think that he could hurt a child physically, make death threats and be fine?
The bus driver didn't care because the child most likely is a bully. The dad should have tried to speak to the boy's guardian.

He's an adult...he should have picked on someone his own size....like maybe the bully's parents if they fought. But you don't solve bullying by bullying!

So if I'm reading correct both boys are in special needs class??

I agree the dad should've reported it to the school. I hope I'm never in this situation tho.
