Taraji P. Henson Is Absolutely Breathtaking In Vogue Italia

The Think Like A Man Too actress sizzles in a pictorial shot by Itaysha Jordan the latest issue of Vogue Italia. Along with showing off her natural beauty and curves, Taraji opens up about the most challenging part of her career, how http://newsone.com/2045565/hbcu-howard-university/" rel="nofollow - Howard University changed her life and what it was like working with Idris Elba.

MUST READ: http://hellobeautiful.com/2014/04/27/rihanna-stuns-on-not-one-but-two-stunning-vogue-brasil-covers/" rel="nofollow - Rihanna Stuns On Not One, But Two Vogue Brasil Covers!

Check out the highlights and gorgeous pics, below.

What is the most challenging aspect of being an actress?

The most challenging aspect of being an actress is being a single mother while navigating my career. I am a mother first.

What is the most rewarding part of being an actress?

The most rewarding part of being an actress is having my performance touch or inspire my audience.

What has been your most challenging role to date and why?

The most challenging role was that of Queenie in The Curious case of Benjamin Button because of the challenges of the aging process. My Mom Bernice and my Grandmother Patsy were my inspirations.

Who were the most instrumental people in your career?

The most instrumental people in my career are my business team that supports me. That starts with my long-term manager Vincent Cirrincione. You need to know the people in your life are looking out for you and have your very best interests at heart.

What did you study at Howard University?

I am a proud graduate of Howard University where I majored in Theatre Arts.

Where did you study acting?

I was fortunate to have incredible teachers and mentors at Howard and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. That training prepared me well for the journey ahead.

How was it working with Idris Elba?

Working with Idris Elba is so terrible because he’s so hard to look at !!! Idris is a wonderful human being. We have great chemistry and have become the closest of pals. He flew from London to see my play in Los Angeles. We truly support each other and I’m so excited about our movie coming out in September No Good Deed.

What changes have you seen for actresses of color in the industry over the past 5-10 years?

In the last 10 years I have seen more opportunities for actresses of color but there is still a long way to go.

What changes would you like to see?

I would like to see films that mimic my everyday life and those of my friends. I would like casting to reflect all of the nationalities and all of the colors that make up our lives.

What does your beauty regime look like?

It’s important to keep my hair healthy and strong so I wrap it every night. I give my face a rest from make-up when I can. I make sure I wash my face every night before bed and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.

Who are your style icons?

My style icons are Diana Ross, Cher and Cate Blanchett.

I never noticed her style per say but she's one of my favorite actresses. I don't know how many times I've watched "Elizabeth the Golden Age". I'll watch anything she's in (except that latest movie with Woody Allen)

Italian men love Black women.

Every time I go to Milano .. all I hear is 'Bella, Bella ... Bella'.

Taraji is getting a lot of attention ... I'd wager.

Hee hee! I go to Italy all_the_time for the last 14 years and I have yet to see a banana thrown at anyone black or otherwise. ... but don't let me interfere with the negativity that is soo much a part of bhm.

Everyone is fine to hear that 'everyone' loves some Blue eyed beauty but Geesh WHY is it so HARD to believe people the world over ... find Black women ... attractive?

(Black folks always have to find a way to run Black women into to ground. Wow.)

Im usually against printer.. But I'm with her on this one.
This time... She's only speaking on her experiences.. And I was there for several days and experienced nothing but positive things..
I'm not saying racism isn't there.. It will always be everywhere.. But I know when i was on my way I was talking to a woman on the plane who had been there and I told her I was nervous about racism (cus of bhm)... but I didn't see that.. And I rarely read about crazy things happening there.. I can only go off of what I've read and experienced.
This time.. I believe printer is doing the same.
Even the women complimented me.

Well, I've experienced the good and the bad in Italy. Sure, I got lots of male attention and honking cars and what not. Two german girls I was hanging with couldn't believe it because no one was paying attention to them. But I also got some dude who approached me at the coliseum and just flat out asked me if we could get a room. And when I turned around and ignored his ass, I heard him whisper "Puta".  And some of the women were nasty. Beautiful country though. that cannot be denied.

is that a compliment? My 13 year old sister was called Brown Sugar in Florence and her reaction was not to feel complimented.  She said she wanted to knee the guy in the nuts and make sure he never had kids. While pretty visceral, I'm happy she feels like that and not immediately complimented whenever a man says something her way.

eta: I actually see you did not say it was men on the street. Never mind!

i agree, i didn't see printer ink's comment as a praise the white man post this time...it was just relaying her experience that Taraji was probably well received in Italy...nothing more, nothing less.  Racism is every place on the planet and we don't have to be reminded of it 24/7.

hmmm....so would y'all tell a foreign black woman not to come to the US?  After all ...there is still hellafied racism here.  Folks are literally being shot down and dragged thru the streets.  Men accost u here same as anywhere else...and might even hurt you or kill you for turning them down.  Any man that speaks to you here really don't like you....they just tryna fucc.  I mean...i'm sure your friends have told you that they had a good time on their vacations to the US but they lying to you and their experiences don't mean sh*t.  It's some bullsh*t here...not a good time to be had no where and everybody hates you.  Fucc your "friend" who has lived in US with minimal trouble.  She lying too.

*sighs*  I swear The BHM gives so many mixed signals.  On one hand other races of men want us but we don't want them and we're the most beautiful women on the planet fuccwhatuheard. On the other hand don't nobody want you black or white and can't nobody for damn sure want Raji's beautiful country ass...except for US niccas.

On one hand...get out, see the world, expand your horizons, experience other sh*t.  On the other hand...you're not wanted no where so best to stay in the US.

I've heard crazy stories about Africa and was scared to go for the longest time but to hear some of y'all tell it...it's not everything they say on TV and is beautiful country and i'll be just as safe there (in certain parts) as the US.  Yeah Africa has her prollems but that don't mean u can't have a good time.   Is there a reason we can't apply that to alot of places?  I hear Cuba and South America is fucced up but despite the high level of crime and the hate against dark people I'm still encouraged to go if I can by other folks who have lived there and who have visited.

The BHM would have u scared to visit Europe tho the US is the same if not worse.

Exactly most of us are pretty aware that there are some very racist and sexist European men. However, a lot are also aware that many Italian men seem to be attracted to Black Women. She was more so focusing on the appreciation that they seem to have for the beauty of Black Women, dispite some of them being ignorant and sexist.

BHm standards will either have you...

Bald, fat and manless

walking around with looking like a bowling ball with a mini fro cause you did the big chop and your head shape aint ready

slim with a man but questioning his every move

trying to find the black woman shade in everything when sometimes it aint even no shade

Ordering makeup from 8765 different colors only to find out that the natural no makeup look is in now

a natural hating weave wearing heffas

a weave wearer hating naturals

contouring on saturday for no reason at all

buying weave but protecting your vendor like no one else ever bought his hair

right click saving gifs for your e fight you know is coming

coming for internet people

Judging rhianna

losing your religion, then repenting after you had to tell _____ to eat a dack

deciphering what you will share cause it will eventually be a receipt

rubbing fish oil and noxzema on your azz cause bigbootyjudy swears it works

filing a pp dispute cause some shady ho sold you a bald wig, and shedding wefts

proving you have a man

explaining why you dont have a man

trying to decide if any white people are any good

I'm not tryna be contrary because even I don't agree with the "Italian men love black women" wholesale.   Hell u ain't got not one race of man that loves all black women across the board...even most black men. *shrugs* (yes I said most because that is my experience.  But i'm quite sure most black men love the rest of u on here.)

it just seems that whenever this Italy/European and black women pops up it seems that folks are quick and easy to dismiss other folks' experiences in favor of their own/friends/fams bad experience.  But when it comes to the browner countries folks that have had bad experiences are shut down with...well don't lump the whole country because of your 1 bad experience.  Plenty of people have gone to ________ and had a great time.   But I understand...nothing wrong with caping for your own.

oh and to quote Lies..  don't come for me.

Sorry for these paragraphs.  I just need to go eat.

I learned back in 2010 that I wasn't a real man, by BHM standards.

Who said don't go?

All people have ever said is don't be naive and have these fairy tales of streets covered with haole male species fawning and kissing your feet.

And as was clearly noted, there is also street harassment, but how you interpret that just depends on your own biases

There's a huge difference

the statement was they also throw banana and ask how much

And the naive comment is based off previous bhm discussions that nd was clearly alluding to.

I'll send for you next I need you to come

Cheers sweetie pie ..

You have been mad at me and have been for a while. You have been waiting for me to slip up or say something contrary to  popular opinions. So you can pounce on me, I remember the day when you were done with me, yet you didn't come for me then.So why wait, since you have been holding it in. Let it out, I won't take any offense to what you say to me. I know the reason why, and I'm not made at you for it. But if you can let's stick to the comment at hand. Whatever you have to say let it out bro.

Oh and cheersEmbarrassed

IMO it seems that there is more to it than "don't be naive".  I mean alot of folks have said don't be naive when u go anywhere in any Travel thread.  I think that's a given.  The only one who has really has rose coloured glasses is Printer.

It's been hinted that Raji has only just now "discovered" european men and shade has been thrown because she said expand your horizons or summin' to that effect and it was assumed she was talmbout white men when she coulda been talmbout men of colour from other places....or hell...just men period.

Then when the conversation turns to different people experiences in these places if they had a nice time with no prollems it's assumed that they somehow didn't see the racism that was thrown at them.  The one time I saw Paris I was scared because of what I saw in the news and how I was told how they hate black people and this, that and the third.  Went...had an excellent time and would go back.  I know that there is racism there but there are decent people too. I was lucky enough to not have had any prollems.

Anecdotes are given on both sides I know.  Hmmm...I guess my thing is when these talks happen...folks that have had a positive experience are somehow wrong and it's assumed that they are naive and don't know that living a place is different than visiting.   I think that's what I'm tryna say.  I however reserve the right to change my mind later after I eat.
