Whether it was a little white lie, embellishment of skills, or you just downright put something you didn't do. Did it work for you, did you get caught, would you do it again?

I'm pretty sure lying about your school is one of those no-no's so No epitome.

My friend said she was proficient in excel and then they asked her about some formulas during her interview and she was tripped up

Lying about school is very dangerous. I wouldn't try it.

The only lie/half truth I have on my resume is that I am conversational in my indigenous language... I can understand and read it but my speaking is very mediocre. But I put it on my resume anyway to look fancy. Sue me

When i was younger i would embellish like proficient in word, excel stuff like that and then i extended the time frame for one job i worked at for 10 mths but put a year. I really dont have to do that now because my exp, but i do need to update my resume for an external job. My current resume is basically 1 old job and all the 4 positions i had internally with my current job which i been at for 11yrs

We just fired a guy over that. He said he knew SQL and he used it all the time for his prior department. Turns out in his old department  the scripts were already written and all he did was just plug in what was needed for his team. He couldn't write a simple join statement so he had to go.

We also had another person lie about their degree in an interview but when we did background no school came up. DO NOT LIE ABOUT GOING TO COLLEGE because this can be pulled.

It's more of embellishing!

But if I'm gonna embellish, it's going to be in areas I know and can research!

Police investigators say a woman applying for a job with the Columbia Police Department lied on her job application through the use of a fake college diploma.

Officers arrested LaKeisha Danielle Bowman and charged her with forgery on Tuesday.

Investigators say Bowman included the phony diploma as a part of her application. Bowman was applying to become a Class III Officer with the CPD.

Bowman's diploma claimed she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from ITT Technical Institute in June 2009. However, a recruiting officer noticed the word "prescribed" on the document was misspelled as "prescrilbed".

CPD says the diploma was allegedly purchased online for $100.  They have also contacted ITT about Bowman and the allegations.

Its rare that people are called out for their degrees unless its a fortune 500 company. I worked at a company that never checked. People were there for years. It was just last year that I heard they were asking everyone for proof of their degrees. I didn't hear about any demotions yet.

I don't if she was Black or White.

If she is outright lying about her education ... she's getting what coming to her.
