Depends on what you said.
I am trying to tell people when you have a job in the public eye, you are on 24/7
Clocked in or clocked out someone is always watching
if what you saying is going to jeopardize my money or my business, I won't think twice about firing you

People get fired all the time for things they say and do away from work. This is nothing new.

if what you say pertains to some illegal activity or criminal acts, then yes. I guess its on an individual bases regarding different situations though. unfortunately alot of people have questionable beliefs and once theyre made aware of its hard to turn a blind eye to them regardless how it was obtained.

Depends on who you said it to, and that person's feelings toward you.

i'm talmbout if you're at home talking to an s/o or whomever.  I understand being outside or in public.  Recording devices are everywhere.  *shrugs*  tho...like folks said...people have been fired for things they put on FB...tho I consider that public.

I know that some of the things I say at home to people I trust...could possibly get me into trouble if it were to get out at my job some type of way.

and yeah fucc Sterling.  he didn't get fired but what...he made the banned?  I heard that they are encouraging him to sell his team?  *shrugs*  the only thing that can hurt that man is to take away his money so ...he gone be alright.

Yes. If you are an employee in an elementary school and you are on tape saying in private that you fantasize about 'being with' a child, your azz needs to be fired and worse.

If the conversation is actually private then you have no worries however once it goes public is when you have a problem.

Yes, if what you said is harmful to the company.

There were businesses in the town I just moved from that I would not frequent cuz of personal things I knew about employees. I will not support your business if you support or condone certain things.

If you want my coins, you better make sure your ship is tight!

It's a dang shame that even in your home u can't say what u think.  But I guess y'all are right.  It's best to keep your own counsel in the Twenty Fourteen.

I don't remember if he was at home having dinner or if they were out at a restaurant, but one of the family recorded him using the N word and people were saying that he shouldn't get in trouble for something he said in private with his family.

This is the same guy who.didn't want blacks and Latinos at his apartment complexes? Now.at his games? And the response, despite his racist comments is he is not a racist and free speech at home?

My bias just can't let me think about the civil liberties aspect.  I'm sorry.  It's really important and I wish there was a better solution...I just can't bring myself to defend the privacy of terrible people right now.

All of this does remind me of a huuuge issue that popped up not too long ago on reddit.

Violentacrez Fired: Michael Brutsch Loses Job After Reddit Troll Identity Exposed By Gawker

Posted:  Updated: 10/16/2012 8:13 am

Reddit Troll Loses Job
Michael Brutsch, aka Reddit user "Violentacrez," was fired from his position at a financial services company after Gawker revealed his true identity.

Actions have consequences, which is something Michael Brutsch is just starting to learn.

Brutsch, aka "Violentacrez," was Reddit's biggest troll  http://gawker.com/5950981/unmasking-reddits-violentacrez-the-biggest-troll-on-the-web" rel="nofollow - until Gawker exposed his true identify , revealing to the world the man behind questionable forums,  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/27/creepshots-georgia-teacher-fired-photos-student-reddit-video_n_1919732.html" rel="nofollow - such as r/creepshots  -- a space dedicated to pictures of women unaware that their photographs had been taken.

Now that the 49-year-old from Arlington, Texas, has been outed, his behavior has caught up with him.

http://www.dailydot.com/news/violentacrez-reddit-troll-fired-gawker-profile/" rel="nofollow - According to The Daily Dot , Brutsch was fired from his position at a financial services company less than 24 hours after Gawker editor Adrian Chen's exposé went live.

Before the article was published, Chen wrote that Brutsch pleaded with him not to reveal his identity, correctly fearing he would lose his job and his ability to provide for his family.

"My wife is disabled. I got a home and a mortgage, and if this hits the fan, I believe this will affect negatively on my employment," he  http://gawker.com/5950981/unmasking-reddits-violentacrez-the-biggest-troll-on-the-web" rel="nofollow - told Gawker . "I do my job, go home watch TV, and go on the internet. I just like riling people up in my spare time."

In a phone conversation, Brutsch admitted to being the Reddit user named Violentacrez, who created or moderated sections dedicated to pornographic and violent images, including subreddits called r/rapebait, r/incest, r/picsofdeadkids, r/jailbait, and r/chokeab*tch.

In the days leading up to the big reveal  http://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/118qdg/the_real_reason_why_violentacrez_deleted_his/" rel="nofollow - Brutsch deleted his Violentacrez account , and is now posting on Reddit using the account mbrutsch, reports the Daily Dot.

"Nothing like living in the US with a disabled wife and no health insurance,"  http://www.reddit.com/r/pointandclick/comments/11dkn9/tea_break_escape/c6mqsvz?context=3" rel="nofollow - Brutsch wrote on Reddit after he lost his job .

“I'm eligible [for insurance], but COBRA is very expensive. Who can afford to pay 5 times as much for insurance at the very moment they lose their income? Only rich folks can afford COBRA. I have maybe 3 weeks pay in the bank. I just hope I can hold out a month. My wife hasn't been able to work for over a year, and our savings will last about 3 weeks, not considering the current lack of health insurance.”

Brutsch also posted a link to his Paypal account so that fellow Redditors could donate money to him now that he is unemployed.

People wrongly assume that they can anonymously act irresponsibly on the net deserve all repercussions when the proverbial poop his the fan. Deal with it.

No conversation is truly ever private IMO. You never know how far the person you're talking to will take the conversation.
