Is Carribean Fiesta off Old Milton? If so, they swear that food is authentic.

Yep, I do. No seriously you ever look in white peoples cabinet, ain't no rows of seasoning Cry They have some low sodium salt, sea salt with the little grinder, black pepper and maybe some sage leftover from Thanksgiving.

and on those cooking shows they just grind some salt and always telling you to chop up some rosemary/thyme Cry and thats it!

lol... i was watching Guy Ferie  this past weekend. He was seasoning a pork roast and did exact what you said...some salt, pepper...and i think he added a little bit of paprika....and it was only to 1 side. LOL

I love fresh herbs.  I use them preferrably.  But I season my crap well.

Lol I hear ya. Im already very selective of who's food i eat. The only thing worse than a person who under season is one who over seasons. One of my girls (blk) made chili once and i swear she put her whole collection in that pot. I found a mustard seed thought i tasted cloves..just ugh but we were at a fellow friends(whos yt) house warming and they all took bowls home...i was confused..lol

my lil bro has a white girlfriendSleepy and she swears she knows how to cook. she was bragging about her homemade chilli so i go over to see what the hype was about and that sh*t was nasty as hell

she used canned wolf brand chilli and mixed it with some canned ranch style beans.

this thread was funny..
im probably kinda like the whites though

my palate has grown accustomed to light salt.. so lots of things are too salty for me now.

but i do like interesting flavors/herbs vs. salt and pepper.. when i watch all these cooking shows and they just use salt and pepper i used to be confused.. so i assumed there was some natural flavor in the food thats hidden when you put all types of ish on it.

Some things only need salt and pepper. Salt n pepper on a perfectly cooked steak is great. Same for a burger. And eggs...that might be it.

So now one uses Maggi, Sason, Adobo, Seasoning Salt, Tyme, I can keep going for ever. I like my food seasoned and spicy. I can stand spicy food with no seasoning. All you taste is HOT.

I cook and people don't use seasonings very well or not enough or too much. White people usually don't use it too much and don't understand that the food has to be flavorful and good tasting to capture that essense of divine.

Ugh, I hate when people put more than salt and pepper on scrambled eggs.

My ex used to put that Badia Complete Seasoning on his eggs. Told him you'll be eating those by your damn self lol.

ive been playing with flavors and seasonings for a while trying to really get the difference..

about an hour ago i made 4 small pieces of lamb.. on 2 i just used salt and pepper.. and on 2 i used paprika, parsley flakes, garlic powder, pepper, and probably 1 other thing..

meh.

I can take or leave the flavored butter on steak but i do use real butter when i cook my steaks and that sets it off. Ive also found that beef from the grocery store needs more seasonings than beef from the local butcher.

Now I want steak

the lamb and lots of my meat are grass fed and/or organic and i dont really taste much of a difference.. only slightly..
but many act like grass fed tastes odd

I can tell the difference in texture when it comes to beef.I believe theres a lot more filler in grocery beef. Which chicken I can tell in flavor and texture. I usually buy whole chickens. Many brands have their chickens in broth or some salty brine. The organic brand is just water. Fresh eggs also taste better.

They have 42 pasta salads though, unbaked beans and they look at you cross eyed if you inquire about some mac and cheese.

There is a place in town that is supposed to serve a good country breakfast.. pork chop, eggs, grits, beef patties and alladat.

I passed by the place for the longest and the parking lot was always full ALWAYS!!! My and my youngest son who is a fried chicken connoisseur stop in there for breakfast after his game one morning.

So, my first "sign" that the food wasn't going to be all that good was the white staff... I have nothing against that BUT I was a little suspect.

We get the menu and it looks promising, the crowd was a mix of white, hispanic sprinkled with black people here and there... "sign" number two..

I order the pork chop, eggs, grits and toast... mihijo ordered the fried chicken and eggs....

When we got our order it looked promising and the both of us was like " Hell yeah " ...we bout to do this...Smile

My son took a bit into this chicken and the chicken batter came off and it was dry like the sahara... he put it down with the quickness and was looking like...Cry... I took a bite to see if he was exaggerating that sh*t was dry as , no flavor all the flavor was in the batter than came off, it was almost like they skinned the chicken then rolled it in the batter then cooked it..Sleepy

I'm Cuban one thing we do is pork, the pork chop had no flavor what so ever, it was like they didn't know seasoning...NO FLAVOR ... I was soo done.

Stern Smile... I couldn't even eat the grits or eggs... I don't trust yt people food unless the Greek LOL

All they have to smell is a little flavour and they start choking. Then we have the sniffers at work. Constantly wanting to put wet nose on your food to ask "whatssssssss thattttttt" sniff sniff. Choke choke.
