I liked the The Wiz and Wizard of Oz.  They were 2 different time periods so I got a different feel from both.  *shrugs*  I was more scared of the witch in The Wiz tho.  Like really scared.

that score for emerald city tho was the sh*t.

I wouldn't be caught dead...red.  Got to be seen...green.

From that trailer alone, the acting looks sub-par at best. But I want to take my nieces to see it, they need to see a little black girl on the big screen.

Her hair though, what look were they trying to createConfused

I have a son who is too old to even wanna watch the old Annie or its suspect looking remake, no nieces and my limited amount of friends do not have daughters so Im okay with not seeing it.

I opted out of the hair comment cause I didn't wanna seem anti natural movement.Cry They should have used something to define the curl pattern.

LMAO I just noticed they auto corrected Han nijan name, cause they thought I was trying to say the N word. Confused

I'm mad there only seems to be like six damn orphans in that whole place.

So, I guess them recreating this scene/song is gonna suck...

And, I'm sorry, but there's something so simple and sweet about this song--I really don't want to hear it autotuned.

it doesn't seem singing is anywhere near the focal point of this new movie (-_-)

Even THIS 1999 remake looked better budgeted/organized, and singing was STILL the focal point

The 99 version was a Disney movie right?
I like them both.
There was another Annie movie that we watched in middle school.

Right!?!

The movie is a classic and modernizing classics suck (see: Willy Wonka and Great Gatsby)

Willy Wonka and Gatsby weren't "modernized."
Not in the way I'm talking.
Gatsby's only problem was having Jay-Z do the soundtrack.

Yeah that 99 version was good

If it wasn't modernized then Annie wouldn't have been black.  they would've had to do lots of tweaking either way.

lets give it a chance... I mean what could be worst than a movie like Pompeii? I paid to see that and that was garbage!

So you think this movie would've been made if it were an all black orphanage in the 1930's?  i doubt it.  they made it modern as an excuse for diversity...they wanted enough whites in the movie to draw tickets.

I agree with this.  I like the jaunti-ness of the older musicals.  This looks kind of watch-able.

I think it looks really cute! I would go see it. I think that Cameron Diaz was a horrible choice for Ms. HanBrothan. I think the one woman from 30rock...Jenna?.... Would have been really good. I like Jamie foxx for the role of Warbucks or whatever he is called.

Cameron Diaz almost seems likable in the trailer...like her meanness is sarcastic instead of malicious. Not sure I can take her serious as the main villain Ms. HanBrothan.

Carol Burnett wasn't really a villain but she was likable too...she was more miserable than malicious

I haven't seen it since I was a teenager so maybe you're right. Maybe her being ugly made her seem more cruel.

I will be upset if at the end of the movie she gets her hair straightened, as if all she needed was a flat iron in her life.

Yeah she does seem miscast...maybe they thought she could pull off the villain because of bad teacher but it's not working...I keep thinking she's gonna end up making them laugh.  Someone like Anne Hathaway or Jessica Lange would've worked bc they have natural bitch face.  I agree w sangs choice of Monique too.
