Absolutely not! Let's both get tested!

Shows that they're responsible about their health and well-being.

Well theres talking about and actually seeing proof. Also this is an open relationship, so one or both of the people may be having sexual relations with other people. Maybe they just want updated results.

when I was working at a dr.office, I think most people found out because they were having some type of other medical issue and their blood was tested.

its accurate

but its difficult to detect depending on the disease pathology

if you have someone who is on zovirax/acyclovir longterm treatment the levels could read undetectable of inconclusive

but if they are nearing an outbreak the antibodies maybe easily detectable

my microbio said that testing (swabs) an outbreak was the most cost effective

in the healthcare setting (esp ours) that means its too expensive to use other testing means so come back when you have an itch

its something i havent read up on in a lil bit though so excuse me if my data is a lil old/off doc

oh okay thanks

I was thinking more if you ask for a herpes test along with all your other tests even if you have never had herpes symptoms

and yeah sobbing a sore would be the cheaper route
sorry hadnt seent your other post on the last page

yeah, GUM clinics here wont even test you if you dont have symptoms

cokes

as harrowing as that seems, with the increasing of cancer causing hpv among the younger generation, you are better off going through the cold speculum experience if it means avoiding a hysterectomy, preserving your sex life, avoiding radiotherapy or chemo or even saving your life

I feel you coco. I detest pap smears. If it makes you feel better took me three...three times before I was able to do it and this was after I lost my virginity. Luckily they changed the requirements for paps from once a year to once every two years if you are 21-29 and once every three years if you are above 30.

but isn't that if youre sexually active?
i don't think it was always necessary for me.
I've had sex with 1 person in the past 2/3 years.. and he was more recently

No, certainly not.

The testing would be done before any intimacy however, not 2 months later.

I get annual paps.  I hate the experience also, but I'd rather have do it and be negative for CX cancer then wait a years then die from it because I was afraid of some discomfort.

Nope. HPV is different. The guidelines are regardless if you have had sex or not. They used to base HPV screening on your sexual history, but now they base it on your age. You are at lower risk with the lower amount of partners you have though and they did a study and found that nuns had the lowest rate of cervical cancer.

most pap smears don't test for hpv, they test for changes in the cervix. these changes take years to develop after an infection. that's why pap smears aren't a one shot deal. it's a continuous screening test at certain intervals based on certain risk factors.

I would rather they bring this up beforehand

We could go get tested together

I like a guy that's cautious about stds and testing. Too many of them just don't care.

I thought you had to sign a waiver to be tested for HIV. I didn't know they could just tell you after a routine test.  Or do you mean they had symptoms and that's what made the dr specifically test for it?
