I think one day she is going to regret buying all that makeup. Unless they just have ridiculous disposable income.

Didn't watch vid, but is she a MUA? Because I can't imagine why anyone would need that much make up

It's pretty much 22 minutes of frivolous, self serving shyt, with a few carpentry projects personally made by her husband for her makeup thrown in. She has a few good space saving ideas, but it's really just a day in the life of a white housewife, I guess. I didn't post this video to be judgmental, but since you asked for a run down, it is what it is.

I've got that going on on a smaller scale.  I buy my makeup in bulk though and I've been collecting since 2009.

Why do women collect makeup when it expires months after you open it?

Im talking about buying allll 8 lipsticks in every collection, 4 different shades of foundation etc

If you watch the whole video and see the amount of nail polish she has...it's obscene.

Well organized!! But that is to much make up, you can only wear so much at a time and for me personally I don't like old make up, after a year I like to replace stuff.

I have way too much make up as is.
I'm trying to use some up. Full face everyday! The Mr. Is like, that green blush is a nice color. Bless his heart.

My lip glosses i need to use because i have too many. Am i the only one who goes through episodes? I ride Freckletone till the wheels fal off for like 3 months straight then i'm like, meh. Then I ride another shade for 3 more momths until i'm like, meh. Then randomly i get a glimpse of Estee Lauder's Praline (one of the first shades I ever used as a preteen) and i'm omgggggg my first love!!!! Then i wear that all summer.

Because some of those expirations are simply commercial....to keep you buying. Everything I have is still going strong.  I don't go overboard with the foundations though...I have about 5 or 6 and they all get used within a normal timeline.  Lippies vary.  Powders (face, shadow, bronzer) can go quite a while if you use clean brushes and keep oil out of them.

Sooooooo that's too much stuffEmbarrassed

I probably have a bit more nail polish than that because that's my main addiction.
I have a lot of make-up brushes because I tend to pick them up when I see what I like
I have a lot of eyeshadows (they are ALL depotted and in Z-Palettes) because they take up a LOT of space otherwise.
Not too much lipstick but prob more than I can use
Lots of glosses
Way too damn much of er'thang

I refuse to spend a lot of money on each item but at the end of the day I have more than I can use before it goes bad.  Its more of a hobby/obsession to be honest

I do have a "girl cave" that is a combination walk-in closet, hair/wig storage, vanity, nail station and lots of storage.  I love it and can spend hours and hours in there just playing around with colors, styles, etc.  It is a bit of an escape / me time.  My family uses it as well because I have a huge mirror, lighting and all the hair care products in the house in thereLOL

However - Nobody NEEDS this much sh*t.  I barely ever wore make-up/nail polish for most of my life and once I was settled and had less going on I lost my damn mind (past 3yrs) Proceed with cautionLOL

Most of my stuff is DIY (I like to make stuff).

MsBMW - Can you give an example of what you need from your vanity and what you need to store?  I have lots of super inexpensive solutions that I love.

I love this topic obviously.   I'll post some of the DIY stuff I found on You-Tube that helped me get organized.

Yup, this.  I have some eyeshadows and blushes that are 5 years old lol.  The only things I rotate are mascaras, liquid liners and liquid foundation.

This is way less complicated than some utubers make it look.  I have made 6 of them so I can pretty much whip one up in about 2hours now.  The first one was intimidating and after that it was all good.  When I move I'm going to use the same concept and some inexpensive wood so I can paint them and decorate them.   This is my#1 DIY Fave:

Brushes!  This thing is usually 40% off at Michaels so around $25 I think.  I love, love, love this because it eliminated a lot of space that I needed on my vanity top.   Mine is filled with Walmart popcorn (88 cents per bag!)

Rotates 360 degrees.

Wow those are beautiful!!!  I really love the ones with the see through tops.

Honestly you can make a vanity out of ANY tabletop.  I started with a work desk I wasn't using anymore.  It was a nice size to start and I used empty boxes to create tiers.   Sometimes I cover them with decorative duct tape.  I have a few of those decorative storage boxes to stack or place them to create prettier "shelves" but for the most part I used amazon and drugstore.com shipping boxes.   And wicker baskets have been great for hair products.

I usually find this near the crafters storage area.  There is one other department in the store where they keep them I don't remember what the section was.  The best ideas I find end up being something that was originally made for / by craftersLOL

Office Organization stuff is great too.  I've had hardwood for a few years but maybe one of those plastic things you use under a desk might work?

I saw some wooden ones as well when I googled

I like her makeup room. I dont have alot of makeup right now so i wouldn't need much space. These pics make my makeup collection look pathetic. All I have is a sephora makeup studio blockbuster kit, two pencil eyeliners, one liquid eyeliner, bronzer, and two bottles of foundation, two mascaras and a few brushes. I need to get my collection on point.Ouch

Correct.

99% of allllll that stuff would be a hazard to wear on your skin or anywhere near your eyes! It expires because the ingredients ... begin to break down after 6 months. Nail polish? Ugh.. once the air hits it.

She shpuld have 1 of the basics (eyeshadow, mascara, brow pencil, foundation, blush, lipstick (you may have several lip colors)and every 6 months (maybe a year!) either toss them or put them in the back drawer as backup in case one day your xxx is not there so you have something to wear that day at least. Then later on figure out what happened to it.

There are probably several thousand dollars she has blown on all that stuff.

She should invest the rest of her money into a nice Index-Stock Money Market account so she build something real for herself .. instead of throwing it away.

It's her money though. (shrugs)

This woman has no life.

Posted By: Rumbera
Date Posted: Feb 06 2014 at 12:06pm

She does have alot of makeup but I don't care, it's her money not mine.

I felt like a horder at one time and just have to decrease my makeup stash because it was driving me crazy. It was hard to let some of that stuff go but I was never going to wear it but it looked pretty sitting there.

I am more selective of what I buy... An eyeshadow would have to be some extraordinary fiyah color for me to pick it up because I most likely I have a dupe in my stash for it.

It's a good feeling to know your stash and to be able to use it.

hahaha purp knows what im talking about.
i've always believe that women should have their own "cave" in their homes to escape for a couple hours a day with all the stress in our lives; my mommy thought me that.
so if it's a vanity area im all for it; no matter how much shyt she got.
when our house was being renovated my mom made mirror rooms for the both of us that function as a closet and also vanity area. I got so much makeup; it makes my head spin sometimes; shyt is ridiculous.

I just have issues with waste.
If not for the short shelf life of makeup, i wouldnt dream of judging her, but unless she is doing a bridal party makeup business for a living, i just dont understand why one person needs so much that will go to waste so soon Confused

The lady in the first video mentioned that she works or had worked at Sephora.

I really like her room and her set up.

lol @ 'kept.' Is that what we're calling it now? OK

This makeup box (from Ikea) is heaven sent.

I don't have a lot of makeup now. As my  collection grows, I'll get something larger, but right now this is sufficient - fits perfectly in one drawer.

Get yourself a table mirror. They normally have them at ikea, target, marshalls.  I use that to do eybrows and eyes and then use my vanity mirror to complete my face, foundation, blush, set and hair.

Thanks and I have one other question lol. What type of lashes do you use? I heard about Red Cherry but they have so many different types. I want something natural looking.

this pic is when i first did it.  I had to buy a mirror to sit on my vanity and it has the 5x zoom on it, the wall mirror is for me to look at how my mu is coming along from a distance.  I switch back and forth between the both of them

mayne listen Red Cherry I love but 510 ain't about that lash life that cost $3.99 for one.  I go to this dolla store in Frisco.  They started off a dolla then went up to $1.25.  That's why I stay buyin $20 worth when I go over there.  These are made with "human hair". They do not look plastic, you'd be able to tell if they were.

also they have many different syle numbers to choose from.  So are very thick..I like to use them when I go out at night.  Some are thin for everyday use or Sunday worship.  So are long, or short.  I just get a variety cause my mood swings with hair and makeup are a mess

Lol I never thought of checking in the dollar store. Ive seen Red Cherry on ebay for less than $2.00 a pair. One seller had like 6 pairs for $11.00 or something. Ill check in the dollar and hair store first though.
