Ill aim for 4 bottles a day.

Add any tips you feel are useful.

i think it helps when you have the water in a big container… then you just have to push yourself to finish it.. vs. opening a new bottle which is what I've been doing..
when i just see my big container there its easier for me to just gulp like every 20-30 minutes…

When I was pregnant with my son I stopped drinking soda and I haven't been able to drink it since then. I water down all juices except for orange juice.   Water is my primary liquid of choice. I generally drink it with every meal and when I'm thirsty.

Download the app Water Your Body to your phone. It has alarms that sound like water pouring into a glass.  The alarms remind you to drink up frequently

yea it really helps with drinking more water

Posted By: coconess
Date Posted: Feb 02 2014 at 11:55pm
really though.. most juice is just as bad if not worse than soda..

i think it was a mental thing.. it just sounds worse.. and now I'm just so used to never touching it.

i need to get similar to that with juice and alcohol (i think today was my first alcohol in like a week though Approve and it was only 5%)

i like the 'just a tad sweet' Honest aids/teas.. they're organic and they don't have all that much sugar.. tastes like watered down vitamin water

Good detox idea is starting your day off with 8oz glass of warm water with lemon....or infusing your water....I use to get those 3liter bottles of ice mountain and add different kinds of fruit to it....super yummy especially if you're getting off of juice.

I'll join. I drink way too much soda and juice. I use to only drink water, but then got stressed and started drinking coke to stay up late.

I like to mix welch's 100% grape juice with sparkling lime water sometimes when I feel like I need a coke fix and want a healthier choice. It tastes really good and dilutes the juice and has that bite that coke gives you.

I try these challenges often but after day 4 or so I fall off. I hate having to go the bathroom so often. I'll try again. I dont BUY sodas. But when im here at work I will drink it once or twice a week only because we have free soda machines at work!  smh

I drink 3 liters/day. I buy one of the liter bottles of Evian and refill it at the water machine at my job.  I try to drink 2.5 at work, and the rest of the third on my drive home, any other water is just a bonus I guess. But water is really the only thing I buy. I keep juice for visitors and almond milk for my cereal, and wine...

For everyone who just can't stand drinking straight water just use zero cal water enhancers.  Walmart even has some very tasty ones.   Completely solved my problem of not drinking enough water.

The powdered ones make me annoyed but these are awesome.

Water does a body good. I rarely drink juice and soda anymore. If I have a taste for a juice I'll either make it myself, make a smoothie, drink coconut water or make some sweet tea.

Yayyy, I like this challenge! I drank 12 oz. right before bed last night....

My skin's been telling me to drink more water, I've been getting these annoying bumps in my forehead...ugh.

I'm gonna try to get in @ least 64 oz. today...I have this little 8 oz. cup that I'll bring to work with me and fill up while I'm at my desk.

I'm just sticking to 2 Liters of water a day, which is 4 water bottles of 16.9 fl oz a day. That's enough for me.

The more water you drink, the less sodium your body has to retain and the less bloated you'll be. Hopefully I can stick to it.

im gonna continue drinking the Synergy kombucha teas.. they aid in cleansing, have lots of antioxidants, and they don't have much sugar (maybe 5g).. you kinda have to get used to the taste.. but yea I'm gonna substitute those for juice.

also some mentioned coconut water and i drink that as well every now and then.

just starting my day with a cup of hot green ginger tea..
then ill get going with the water.

like juicing veggies?

if so.. i havent done it or made it to whole foods in like a week.. but i typically use celery, cucumber, kale, spinach, carrots (or beet, typically not both), lemon, and sometimes an apple..
the ones i buy have similar items give or take a few ingredients..

i forgot about this.. ill be drinking this quite a bit too..

Sleepysee.. this is how i fell off with water last time.. its hard to drink 60oz of water plus juiced veggies (i wanted to cleanse and was drinking a lot).. plus tea…

ugh.

I meant to come back and say something about the sweetener so I'm glad you mentioned.  Its not aspartame, its sucrulose (splenda).  I would not use anything with Aspartame at allDead.

But be aware they do contain sucrulose.  Use just enough to get a better taste.

Go to walmart & buy a cute "bubba" jug.
That what I did. I try to aim for 83+ oz of water today. 52oz Minimum.
Try drinking 1/2 your body weight in water.
So if youre 100 lbs try drinking 50 oz of water a day.

Chile all I drink is water lol. I do at least 8 bottles a day. in the summer, I chop pineapples in a a large water bottle and let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours. A flavorful drink instead of juice. I only do that every once in a while, I dont want to feel like I need something sweet to drink all the time.

yea… i really wanted to say somethin about them naked juices… they're so sugary..

but who am i to talk with my wine…. so i made myself shut up.

but yea I'm gonna do the fruit soaking instead of juice from now on..
although… i don't think they're must diff from the fresh organic juices i do…. but at least i see exactly what/how natural it is…

I don't drink soda or artificial juices. I drink the Naked juice from time to time, but on the bottle it says it's not a low calorie food. The Naked coconut water with mango is only 190 cal and tastes amazing.  However, that one isn't available everywhere.

It's an acquired taste...

drinking braggs organic apple cider vinegar with mother took me some understanding/effort LOL ive got it now and it's sooo worth it, i do one 2 tablespoons in16.9oz water   before noon, the next before my next snack or meal and the last one before dinner, ive gotten used to it now, love the many benefits and can see the weight loss/ clearer skin & feel rejuvenated when i sip it down LOL
(best to google all the benefits from it)

sidenote: warning it DOES take effort and an acquired tastes yet it's sooo worth itStar

oh and a tip i read yesterday was to spread out the times you drink water evenly throughout the day...

the same way you are advised not to skip meals and just eat one big meal..

dont just gulp down a big gallon of water in one sitting or you will be in the bathroom

divide it like you do meals, drink a little every hour
your body can use it more efficiently when it's in smaller portions and not just one big overflow

since i started doing this today^^ i havent had to run to the bathroom like i had been

Drinking too much water can hurt you- I have patients who can drink so much water in a day that it can effect their brian they call it "WATER INtoxication" and it can lead to death! Also it can throw your whole system out of balanceOuch

Interesting.

Also, I remember hearing about a woman dying in a water drinking contest to get a Wii years ago. I think that's the story Dior is talking about. I know some people will go "lol she died over a Wii." but she probably thought it was a harmless competition and just wanted to get a video game console for her kids. sighs

A good salad is always the best. I have a variety I make and every other week I have only salads for dinner. It works for me.

I know you may say ughhh to some of the ingredients but I love it. Thing is use a mix of different lettuce. Because I do this a week at a time it does not go bad. You can prep this stuff prior to, example cut up your cucumbers and put them in a Tupperware bowl.

-arugula
-spring mix
-cucumbers
-grape or cherry tomatoes
-mandarin oranges
-cottage cheese
-thinly sliced red onion
-black beans
-chick peas
-sliced or crushed almonds

dressing
- olive oil/balsamic vin/ms. dash table blend seasoning. mix and pour over salad.

The water challenge is great. I drink a gallon of water a day, took me awhile to get up to it, I fell off over the winter but I am back on it.
You can tell a difference in your skin, energy, and other things.

Didn't mean to derail...

Thanks mod5! I already like a few of those ingredients (namely cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and those grapes I had in an Asian salad before) and have yet to try some of them but I'll give them a try.

I need to get up to a gallon of water myself.

Why Drink Coconut Water
Now that you definitely have it right, it is time to find out what coconut water has to offer. First of all, coconut water hydrates us even better than ordinary drinking water. Because of that property it is recommended for people that live in hot countries, do a lot of physical work or have has an infection or poisoning that resulted in diarrhea or vomiting (that leaves them quite dehydrated as a result). Fun fact: during the Pacific War, coconut water was used in IVs and plasma transfusions, to save many lives. Turns out that the contents of natural coconut water are identical to that in human plasma, making it a kind of “universal donor”! It is still used that way in countries that have limited access to medical aid.

Coconut water is rich in dietary fiber, enzymes, vitamin C, minerals (such as magnesium and potassium) and amino acids. But at the same time it is low in calories, chlorides and cholesterol. These properties make it useful for people trying to lose weight (by speeding up their metabolism and creating a feeling of fullness). By applying coconut water directly on your skin, you will keep it hydrated and balance its pH levels, leading to reduced acne, less visible signs of aging, stretch marks, and cellulite and even treat eczema. Drinking coconut water will also help boost your immune system and fight the symptoms of the common cold and flu; keep your cardiovascular health in top shape and aid the kidneys in filtering the toxins and thus reducing the risk of kidney stones.
