Good question.  I just saw this article 5 minutes before I posted it here.  I've known about a few of them, but it might be interesting to read up on more details.

Lol so basically a bunch of Yoruba gods? lmao @ Olorun being super tatted like that. Idk y I think these pics are so funny. Maybe bc they look like DC Comic instead of actual worshiped deities.

The twins are adorbs

I'm not religious but I'm curious, why does one believe? Does belief in these gods do something for you? Why so many?

The pics look really nice but some of the men pics look a bit gay.  I'm not throwing shade.....I just notice some men in the pics look a bit feminine.

Inquiring minds want to know more Smile . Why is she your goddess to pray to?

These are Yoruban gods...Santeria, Candomble and various other religions use them... Very common in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Panama, etc...

I ain't got time to break them all down to you, you can google and find out the story of each one.

I don't pray to her but after reading the book all the patterns in my life are more reflective to Oshun/Yemaya compared to any other deity mentioned in book.

Cool. My gf has been telling me about a series of book by michael lorne I believe where the old world gods are replaced by new world gods consumerism capitalism etc etc and because the humans no longer believe in them theyre losing theircpiwers. Anansi was included which was cool. Hes not a god in jamaica but a conniving greedy trickster. She also said the gods were side eyeing us in the west for having one god who is responsible for everything lol

I've remember reading a few stories with that premise. After all if u don't believe in it where is it going to get it's energy/power? Ain't that the story with Queen Mab n'nem?

Wow those are beautiful. I've been meaning to do more reading and research on orishas. I haven't quite gotten around too it yet.

I do agree. If someone ever wanted to mainstream the background of these deities, it'd be epic

i'd love it if there was more books/films on other deities besides greek/roman mythology.
i'd take any country besides those, they are so overdone.

i have no idea why afrocentric types adopted the yoruba religion, swahili language, and Egyptian monarchs. those things don't mix but they do it, all the time. blame it on the slave trade mash up of africans in diaspora i guess.

"We will take our pregnant bodies; drink from underground rivers/ Wash your face between our legs; While recreating humanity, we will summon YEMOJA/ Search for our fertility/Ban all pink and yellow pills! Ban all pink and yellow pills!" (Jessica Care Moore "The Prediction" off theNastradamus album)

I remember hearing the name before.. So beautiful
