I recently saw a woman riding the bus with a Gucci purse. I told a friend of mine that if I had a Gucci purse I wouldn't be  riding the bus with it. She didn't see anything wrong with it.  What's your opinion?

The purse is most likely a knockoff.

Living in New York Ciity...EVERYBODY rides the bus and train. Gucci...Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Material things dont determine whats in your pocket. Girl could have gotten the bag as a gift.

Right, how many folks paid for that Gucci with their rent money...  She could just be riding for convenience.

I learned not to judge because what the person carries does not always reflect their financial status.  She could be homeless, out or work, gotten it as a gift, knockoff, boosted it, etc.

the fact that some think riding public transit = broke just shows the bama, broke, or judgey mentality of the on-looker.  why is the on-looker putting the bag on such a pedestal?  some people have a long commute, some people care about the environment.

i ride public transit on some days and i have (real)designer bags double as shopping or book bags.  i also have a car.  instead of counting other peoples money maybe you should try to figure out what they're doing that's making them able to be secure enough to not give a fawk.

Who said anything about people being broke. I just wouldn't ride the bus with an expensive bag that could get snatched. I never brought up anybody's economic level.

You can have your bag snatched just walking down the street so I don't really see what the issue is...
Hell, Someone's taken my bag at work before.
Your home isn't safe either.Confused

I was robbed on a bus when I was pregnant. They yelled for the bus driver to open the back door, while we were at a bus stop. They snatched my purse and ran. So I've been cautious ever since. Maybe a little paranoid. This was in the 90s before they started putting cameras on the buses and trains.

The OP didnt say the woman couldnt afford the purse, nor implied it, IMO. All i got from her post is that she wouldn't ride the bus with an expensive bag. I take that to mean fear of it being snatched, etc. Gosh, all the snarkiness.

I've been working at a call center this whole semester and there is a chick here who drives a Mazeratti, a man who drives a 2013 S-class, a whole lot of chicks walking around with Loui V bags, and everything else you can name. Black people have their priorities out of wack.
