Okay so I know we got some time before the seasons kick off but what are you expectations for the coming season for your squads?

Anyone doing the fantasy thing?

But more so.... how are you guys feeling about this revamp of the All Star game? Personally I like it...although they  took a play out of the NHL's play book...I think it will be interesting...

Also What about this Johnny Manziel thing?...Thoughts?

Folks are saying his dad referenced Trayvon Martin a bit when talking about johnny being a normal kid who " ate skittles, drank beer and won a heisman".....

i don't really think that his dad was referencing TM. I think that all his life, JM has skated by and didn't have to deal w/ consequences of his actions. he needs to realize that all that ish won't fly if he chooses to get drafted.

idk if i'm gonna be able to do FF this yr b/c DH had 3 fantasy teams and hogged the comp. all the time. i would like to, though.

as for my team, i need to get my thoughts together about it. we need a stronger D, though. i do know that UM recruited some really good talent this yr, so i look forward to seeing them on the field. i really want to go to a game this yr.

hail to the victors Big smile

Yeah I think skittles will always be liked to TM from this point on. I cant find the focus to do FF I want to but Im such a flake about it.I think for the first time in a long time I will be tuning in for the pro bowl though....

Will you be heading to the big house anytime this season? I hope to go.... this would be my 3rd year in a row if I can make it there...I love that place..but hate those damn bench seats....black azzes werent made for em.

Just in case no one knows the new format .....

In addition to these changes, several other aspects of the http://www.nfl.com/probowl" rel="nofollow - Pro Bowl will be new in 2014:

» Game within the Game -- A two-minute warning will be added to the first and third quarters and the ball will change hands after each quarter. This will increase the opportunities for quarterbacks to direct "two-minute drills," which are especially exciting for fans.

» No Kickoffs -- The coin toss will determine which team is awarded possession first. The ball will be placed on the 25-yard line at the start of each quarter and after scoring plays.

» Rosters -- The rosters will continue to consist of 43 players per squad. The kick return specialist will be replaced by an additional defensive back.

» Cover Two and Press Coverage -- The defense will be permitted to play "cover two" and "press" coverage. In previous years, only "man" coverage was permitted, except for goal line situations.

» Stopping of the Game Clock -- Beginning at the two-minute mark of every quarter, if the offense does not gain at least one yard, the clock will stop as if the play were an incomplete pass. This rule will make the team with the ball attempt to gain yardage toward the end of each quarter.

» Game Timing -- The game clock will start after an incomplete pass on the signal of the referee, except inside the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half.

» Play Clock -- A 35-second/25-second play clock will be adopted instead of the typical 40-second/25-second clock.

» Sacks -- The game clock will not stop on quarterback sacks outside of the final two minutes of the game. Currently, the game clock stops in these situations outside of two- minutes of the second and fourth quarters.

SuperBowl of courseStern Smile

lol. My hope is my terps are at least respectable this year. We have been bringing in some good players like diggs and long (Cockerille?) because our OC is a recruiting genius.  I wanna leave the ACC being decent at least. We weren't that bad last year until all of our quarterbacks went down with an ACL injury. Like every. single. one. Then we played with a linebacker at quarterback and didn't win a game. So pathetic. :/.

lol Im looking forward to the addition after this season...Hopefully some new rivalries will form. Notre Dame got called out on their BS since all of a sudden they want to end the contract with Michigan....ugh....But yeah new blood will be nice..

And Hoke been going kinda ham talking about everybody even Michigan so I hope they heard him and will do better this season... on paper their recruiting has been pretty solid.

Yeah, Im excited. I already decided which schools Im hating. Lol! Ohio State and Penn State (for football only). I'll probably hate all of ya'll eventually though. I feel it will take some years for us to actually be competitive in the Big ten though.

Oh and one more thing about this change in the ProBowl.....I think that it would have been great A&PR move all around if they made it to wear a Fan could win a chance to be  assistant coaches to these all star coaches.

They know how huge Fantasy football is with the NFL. Even folks who dont watch football play FF.  Sooo to have it where...The winners would be assistant coaches and calling plays would bring fan relations to the next level and help aide in the decline in viewership... not to mention Sooooo much money could be made.........

Good teams to start with.....lol Yes theres a very good chance you will....lol LOL As far as competitive maybe and maybe not...I havent seen your team play much to gauge it but  I think its somewhat easier to rise up faster and be competitive in the Big Ten than other conferences because of the difference in playing style. A average defense can take an average offense kinda far.

i was pissed that ND backed out. I can't stand them.

i'm trying to get these ND/UM tickets from my friend, but he's playing w/ my emotions, talmbout "idk i wanna sell them on ebay"

can't wait till the terps are in the B10!

anyone hear about Riley Cooper from the Eagles? I LOLed at Vick's response.

i'm excited about the pro-bowl.

idk...i hope that Manziel has this big fall from grace. i'm tired of him and his attitude. how you gonna lie to your mama like that.

I look forward to Johnny Football and all of these analysts kissing his behind to go away.

Now I want to see what happens when the Eagles' Cooper goes into his locker room to practice with all of those "n words". May the cameras Evil Smile

Dropping a bunch of thoughts.

  • I'm a Bucs and Noles fan and I feel pretty good about both teams. I'm thinking 10-2 for FSU and 8-8 for the Bucs. If Winston is the real deal, maybe 11-1 for FSU. If Revis and Clayborn are healthy for the Bucs, maybe 10-6 for them. I won't be too upset if the Bucs struggle because it'll prolly mean Freeman is on the way out, and this is potentially a strong upcoming QB class if you're in need of a QB.

  • Much bigger college football fan than NFL. But I swear the ACC is slowly but surely sucking the life out of the sport. During the ACC meetings a few weeks back, the refs said they would have tossed Clowney out of the game for lighting up that poor Michigan player. A flag and an ejection is the new rule for ACC officials when a player "leads with the crown of their head." SEC officials said it wasn't even a flag, let alone worth ejecting him. The ACC already has the worst officiating in major college football, but this crap could seriously put a dent in my enjoyment of the sport.

Take that away from me college football, and I start falling out of love with you.

  • This is my first time hearing about the NFL "All Star" stuff. Anything, including not playing a game at all, is better than the old pro bowl. Sounds interesting based on the little bit I'm reading but I still prolly wouldn't watch it. The only thing I'll prolly be interested in is the draft portion just to debate it online with people.
  • Someone please, please, PLEASE upset Ohio State. I looked at their schedule the other day and nearly vomited. Who the hell is going to beat them? Gkisses, pray twice a day until November so that your Wolverines can get that upset. I'll be pretty mad if I have to see undefeated OSU in the BCS title game, after having not beat any ranked teams.
  • Marcus Mariota is my pre-season Heisman pick. I think Oregon rolls through the season until they get to Stanford, which will prolly be the make or break game. I wouldn't be surprised if Mariota puts up huge numbers. 3500+ passing yards, 1000+ yards rushing and over 50 total touchdowns. We'll see if he gets that west coast bias treatment though.
  • I hope Chip Kelly succeeds in Philly. It'll be fun to see the NFL continue to become wide open. Though I hope defensive innovation is also right around the corner to combat the offensive influx. A hybrid nickle back/rover type becoming more standard in base defenses could work. I've read about coaches in college experimenting more with hybrid players.

Looking forward to talking ball with y'all.

Report: The NCAA is investigating Johnny Manziel

On the eve of Texas A&M’s fall camp, http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9537999/otl-ncaa-investigating-johnny-manziel-profiting-autographs" rel="nofollow - ESPN is reporting that the NCAA is looking into whether http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/players/202568" rel="nofollow - Johnny Manziel received money in exchange for autographing memorabilia.

According to two of ESPN’s sources, Manziel received a flat five-figure fee in exchange for autographing hundreds of items while in Florida to attend the BCS title game in January. Multiple sources say they saw Manziel signing memorabilia in autograph broker Drew Tiernan’s residence, but no one saw the actual exchange of money.

If the NCAA – who has contacted Tiernan but did not comment on the report – finds that Manziel profited from selling his autograph, he will be ruled ineligible. According to ESPN’s reporting, a large amount of items with Manziel’s verified signature started flooding the market in the weeks after the national title game.

Manziel comes from a wealthy family funded by old Texas oil money ( http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9521439/heisman-winner-johnny-manziel-celebrity-derail-texas-aggies-season-espn-magazine" rel="nofollow - the Heisman winner drives a Mercedes and has http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/texas-aggies/20130609-texas-am-s-johnny-manziel-makes-appearance-at-nba-finals-roots-for-heat-over-spurs-my-texas-loyalties-lie-in-dallas.ece" rel="nofollow - purchased tickets to some of the biggest sporting events in the country ), so it’s odd – but certainly not impossible – that he would want or need to sell his autograph. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9521439/heisman-winner-johnny-manziel-celebrity-derail-texas-aggies-season-espn-magazine" rel="nofollow - In Wright Thompson’s great profile last week , he wrote that Manziel’s father Paul bought him the Mercedes so his son didn’t “do something stupid to get it for himself."

Considering the NCAA’s record on enforcement, we’ll see how quickly this investigation moves or if it can actually prove the exchange of money for autographs took place. http://www.aggiesports.com/football/article_a7ea4e5a-fcca-11e2-8b76-001a4bcf887a.html" rel="nofollow - Manziel will be with his teammates and coaches Sunday night for a compliance meeting and dinner, and is scheduled to meet with the media Monday as the Aggies open up camp.

I gotta slowly ease into this transition...Its hard for me to kiss this warmer weather goodbye.... Despite the fact that we are already back in the mid70s....I don't wanna lose summer yet.... That said having the countdown on my phone for Michigan football and watching this game tonight  gets me pumped up.

This is the last chance for Schwartz...he better get this sh!t together

i'm scared, winter is coming Cry

schwartz can only do so much. i mean, he needs to do more, but the front office has to change for anyone to really be effective.

defense makes me nervous...vandenbosh and avril and williams aren't there. and fairley hasn't had too much playing time.

lol You and me both...It got cold  to fast so I know its going to be bad..lol I do agree that Schwartz can only do so much but after that 10-6 season expectations were set higher as to what this team and coaching staff were capable of doing. Layon fans have been screaming for a front office change .......... for yearrrrrrrrrrrs...lol The problem is any change they make fits into the model theyve been using for years. So nothing really changes

The D needs to come out hard no doubt. I still feel that criticism that Suh got( and continues to get at time) changed his play in a bit. I wish they had better Vets around him to show him how to still go hard but to be smart about it because dude look as though hes second guessing himself off the jump too often. Get Robert Porcher in there.... lol something..That 10-6 season created so much energy around this team that it sucks that they let that spirit die so fast.

I am sooo over J Manziel and it is interesting how some folks love how hes sticking to the NCAA whole others think hes a arrogant spoiled brat. Is it possible that he is both??? That being the case who do you really find your self caring for in this situation. His 30min timeout handed down was bullsh!t and his antics are nothing surprising.  Ive wondered if he would go down the road of being the next Ryan Leaf but who knows......Im over hearing about him ...

In other news, Michigan looked good in their win over Central which was kind of expected. Gardner should have a good year and its nice to have a "traditional" QB back in the pocket. I still appreciate what Robinson brought to the field but it was hard to feel any real confidence with him there. Part of the excitement ppl had was actually frustration.

Saw some of the game from the team below us and I cant say I was impressed, call it cold feet not sure but nothing that screamed 2nd seed. Michigan State struggled a lot and didnt look that strong either. You would think that these things would make me happier but a weak Big10 makes us all look bad at the end of the day......But if they both end up sucking I wont be upsetLOL

Michigan 59- Central 9

NEXT WEEK :

(14 )Notre Dame @ (17)  Michigan  "Under The Lights"Game
8PM EST On ESPN
Overall record (Michigan leads,23-16-1)

Last Year ND was handed the game , The year before they were embarrassed in the first ever UTL game via a classic comeback by Michigan. Both teams come into this rival game with a lot to prove.. it should be interesting as this will be the last meeting for the schools for a few years as ND has op'd out of playing Michigan for the up coming seasons.

I am excited and happy to have football back in my world

Gkisses, it's one or the other with him. He's a good player but too smug for my liking. I need Alabama to hurry and shut him up tho. That game can't happen soon enough.

I will catch the Mich/ND game later this week. It betta be good!Stern SmileLOL

Did anyone else see Louisville today? Looking real good.

His attitude sucks royally and while I cant stand him the NCAA knew that not having him in that Bama game would have hit those pockets hard and he knows this as well thats why hes laughing about it.  He needs to be humbled....lol talented douche...lol

That MICH/ND game should be good or at least I hope so...Theres been a lot of words exchanged during the off season between the two...one of which from the Michigan coach calling ND chickens for not wanting to face us anymore..lol

I didnt see the Louisville game today...... Who they play?..... Id also like to take this moment to say Im glad football has finally started because it makes sports radio a lot more fun to listen to...I mean i like baseball, I enjoy going to the games, not so much watching on TV prior to the post season or a rival game but...mannnnnnnnnnn baseball talk on the radio is boringgggggggggggggggg as hell! and Im saying it as a fan of a team who's doing well...lol cant imagine how it feels in places where the team sucks.

ND is getting called yeller bellied by Michigan? Well, the rivalry will be extra good for a casual fan like myself. I am all over it.LOL

Gkisses sports radio has been killing me! Puig is the only exciting thing to discuss. Besides Mike & Mike in the mornings, I've resorted to listening to local stations around the country for something interesting.

Yes, talented douche is the proper name for him. Ugh. I just want another QB to tell him 'you gone learn today' and do just that.

How will tonight's game be, I'm not familiar with Pittsburgh and would rather not watch a blow out game.

Johnny Football - accepted money for autographs... - Sits out the first half of first game

Cam Newton - accused of getting paid to play for AU.-- NCAA on his azz the whole season and months after until they cleared him of no wrong doing..

Johnny - Arrogant prick.. Possible spoil brat

Cam - Remained humble and kept his composure during the whole season of the the Cam bashing..

NCAA on that bs..NCAA, once again, deciding when they want to bring down the hammer. Johnny got off hella light for what he did... However he got the big head and now feels he runs things.. He need to get slapped upside the head with some humility..  I ain't feeling him anymore.. HOWEVER, I still want Texas A&M to beat Bama again this year..

lol Cam took that money. Or his dad did at least. The reason the NCAA was on him was because his dad flat out admitted that he asked for money. There was no evidence apparently for the Manziel thing (even though he got paid too).

And lets not forget that Cam is the same dude that was kicked out of UF for stealing a computer from a student. Dude isn't a saint. Both of them are aholes.

Nfl predictions anyone?

Well tbh I think pre season predictions are a joke; it's fun but.....
You have to see a team actually play before you can make a sound prediction.

I wonder if it's just my bias but I don't think Washington will be as good as people are predicting and Eagles won't be as bad

I'm interested in the season Cam Newton will have he really needs to make the playoffs bc the media is itching to clown him

Key word is "Dad". Just because his dad shopped around, doesn't mean Cam had any involvement.. There were 'brokers' willing to confess that Manziel was signing autographs for money and had him on video. Brokers ain't working for free.. Johnny Football penalty should have been much harsher than sitting out a first half..  We know Cam ain't a saint. However, he handled himself pretty well during that season..The only reason they were gunning for him was because they didn't want to see Auburn shining..LOL If AU would have played like their regular selves, then Cam would have never got put out there..

What brokers were willing to confess? I didn't read anything like that. And why would they mess up their money?

The NCAA actually worked fast as hell to clear Newton so he could play in the SEC Championship game.  I believe it took ONE DAY for them to say he was eligible, which happened to be the day before the championship game.

There is no direct evidence in either case. I believe both of them got paid.

Hell, that portion was in the news.. Can't remember when I seen it because I was enjoying my lunch.. Guess it wasn't concrete enough or just hearsay. I can admit when I'm wrong.. oh well.. Nevertheless, if you ain't getting paid you ain't trying.. LOL j/k

But Cam needs to win the rookie qbs of last year put the pressure on.
I wonder if Johnny Manziel will suffer the same fate as Tim Tebow when he gets to the NFl

Probably not cause Johnny Football is an actual qb..Tebow ain't. Manziel needs to humble himself though..

When I the first heard the Pats had picked up Tebow, I immediately said Bellenchex ain't sh*t.. I felt they were just picking him up to give him a nice ending to his football career.
