DISCLAIMER
EXCUSE THE QUALITY OF SOME OF THE PICTURES! MY ORIGINAL PHONE DECIDED TO TAKE A SWIM IN A CUP AND I CAN'T FIND MY CAMERA CHARGER!!

ORDERING AND SHIPPING
I originally ordered the Afro Kinky Curly ("AKC") the last week of December. I don't know the exact date. I received the hair on New Year's Eve.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
The customer service was WONDERFUL! The owner of KinkyCurlyYaki ("KCY") answered my questions thoroughly and QUICKLY! It's also a breath of fresh air to have nice customer service after dealing with CVs and other AVs. The owner is actually knowledgeable about extensions and SPECIFICALLY kinky textures. The owner was even gracious enough to send me a few pictures because I was back and forth about KC and AKC. The customer service made the ordering.... SIMPATICO. I did not feel as though I was playing Russian Roulette.

HAIR & MISCELLANEOUS INFO

SPECS
Vendor: KinkyCurlyYaki (KCY)
Website: http://www.kinkycurlyyaki.com" rel="nofollow - www.kinkycurlyyaki.com
Hair Type: Afro Kinky Curly
Lengths: 24 inch and 20 inch
Ounces: Each bundle was 3.5 ounces
Number of bundles ordered: 3
Number of bundles used: 2.2-2.3

THE HAIR LOOKS JUST LIKE THE PICTURES! The owner did not withhold the good hair for the pictures and then sent out crap. ALSO, being that it's a new company, I don't see all the "YT Gurus" reviewing the hair. In fact, I haven't seen too many YT reviews on the hair which actually is VERY nice for "me". That also made me feel a little at ease that the owner was not shelling out hair to every "YT Guru" for reviews. It's a new company yes, but with the experimenting I've done with CVs, I felt okay. I'm not a novice to KC or AKC. So between the customer service and receiving the hair itself, I've found my vendor.

The AKC is a hybrid of AAMH and RHO (to me). I LOVEDDDDDD my RHO AKC. My only problem with the RHO was the LACK OF VOLUME. The AAMH KC was okay, but I had a FEW problems with it. For one, the wefts were too thick and I personally don't like splitting wefts. Secondly, the texture was too silky. I like TRUE kinks. That's why the RHO was heaven. But to combine the volume of the AAMH to the texture and pattern of the RHO was my DREAM hair.

I have only had the hair installed for roughly two weeks, but THUS FAR..I LOVE IT!

Shedding and tangling fare expected with any KC and AKC; however, there are no EXCESSIVE shedding and tangling issues. In fact, the most prone tangling style with any  kinky/curly texture (real or extensions) is a wash and go style. I wore the wash and go the first week of installation to tell the tangling of the hair, and I had MINIMAL.

This minimal tangling let me know the hair is NOT over processed. The over processed crap I have received from some CVs should be outlawed. I am not afraid to color the hair.

Thus fair, I have only done wash and goes, low ponytails and buns, and twistouts. I will take more pictures of the hair as I wear it and post updates.

Very pretty and you're wearing it well! I have been keeping my eye on this hair as I really don't feel like rolling the dice with a CV when it comes to getting some good kinky curly.

May I ask how tall you are? It falls at a nice length. These pics will have me dreaming about when some of that KC comes my way.

Thank you everybody! I'm going to try to post a many pictures as possible because I I plan to do a few more styles!!!

What is your daily routine for keeping the hair tame
It depends on how I'm wearing my hair. When I did the wash and go, I did the pineapple method. But I would use two high ponytails and not one. When it's a twistout, I either slept in a bun or retwisted at night. In the mornings, it's a fluff and go.

so would you say the 24in shrinks to 12in?
I wouldn't say that. I'm 5'3. I wanted hair that would hit me between APL and BSL. I ordered a 20in from a CV last year and the 20 in hit me between SL and APL. So I figured 24 inches would give me what I needed. I don't know the inches in straight hair land, but the hair hangs a little below my bra when complete wet. At it's most severe shrinkage, it hits me at the beginning of APL. On a good hand day, it's BSL. On average, it hangs between APL and BSL. I don't have a lot of backshot because I don't have my camera handy.

It's Mardi Gras time...SO THAT MEANS BALLS!! I don't like straightening my hair for anything and formal events aren't an exception. I love my kinks (whether God-given or wefts)..so I never had them. I wanted to do a flexi-rod set, but never had the time. So, since my dress had beautiful back detailing, I chose a HIGH PUFF!!

Good question. I emailed KCY for an estimated shipping date before I ordered because I have a set weave appointment and the message on their website hadn't been updated since Feb 27th. They said if I ordered by the end of the week I would receive my hair the week of the 18th. I ordered on March 5 and have not received a shipping notice. I'm contacting them on Monday.

I took the hair out at the beginning of this month to reinstall it. This time I only use two bundles..nothing more.

One bundle of 24 inch.
One bundle of 20 inch.

I cut the 24 inch weft in half and place it on the bottom. The 20 inch is in the middle and top, and I mixed in the 24 at the top too (if that makes sense).

It's been holding up particularly well! Is there shedding and tangling? Yes, but that's with any KC. It's not excessive. It's not matting, and I'm not leaving a trail of kinky curls to grandma's house! LOL And my wefts aren't balding!!! I actually cut my wefts (sound the alarms) and I'm still not shedding up a storm. I sealed my wefts with Dritz. The first time I installed, I didn't seal the 20 inch bundle, and I didn't have any major issues.

I'll give you my honest opinion on maintenance..it's subjectiveLOL I say that because to me KCs are low maintenance. I am a "fluff and go" kinda girl (if you can tell from my pics), ponytails, buns, etc. I don't comb or wet my hair daily. That's just crazy to me Confused. When I first started wearing KC extensions, I had the AAMH and I would co-wash it daily. That was a lot of maintenance, and I could see why people didn't want to put up with the hassle! However, I started taking the low maintenance route with my hair. I'll do twistouts, bantu knots, etc. styles that I know have longevity. Basically STRETCHED styles that didn't encourage tangling. Being that I don't like perfectly coiffed curls, it works for me. When I look too much like a lion, I pull it back in a bun or puff. So the maintenance is low for me. Straight hair gives me the blues...even my natural hair straighten is too much work for me. On a daily bases, my style time is under 10 minutes. I sleep with my hair in a ponytail and in the morning I take it down. Sometimes, I keep the ponytail up until it's time for me to wash my hair.

Posted By: AmandaKay
Date Posted: Mar 27 2013 at 3:05am
I keep forgetting to respond to a question posted earlier if the wefts were splittable. Yes, they are splittable. But they are not thick wefts (think the AAMH wefts). I'm not an advocate of splitting (probably being I'm lazy LOL), but if you wanted to split them, you could.

Bravo....Bravo...very NICE.

I would like to see how much of your natural hair you left out. Esp. around your head. I saw the leaveout. Also If You don't mind I want to see how your wefts are laid in the front of your hair and how you got the nape to lay so flat.

I'm definitely not a "defined curls" type of chick. I'll be reinstalling the hair in May or June (yes, install number 3)! I'm debating if I want to order a 26 inch still.
