Anybody know of tumblrs or whatever with regular looking folk? I mean, people who are not already fit/thin? Or are fit but bigger? Or focuses more on what the body can do as opposed to how it looks?

My new “favorite” exercise! Plank-ups! And by favorite, I mean I hate it because it’s so killer! These help tighten your core and tone/strengthen your arms.

1) Start in a plank
2) Lower onto one forearm
3) Lower onto the other so you’re in a forearm plank
4) & 5) Reverse! Use one arm at a time to push back up into a raised plank.
Complete 3 sets of 8 reps per side!

Stay off the isolation machines in the gym! The hardest working people in the gym are not sitting on their butts.

Change your lifestyle 1 small step at a time. Fad diets or extreme diets where you feel like youre suffering will be short lived and more than likely your results will be short lived too.

Calorie counting isnt as necessary as paying attention to your sugar and salt intake.

^5 to the person that posted the planks photo. I absolutely hate planks but they do wonders!

Uh uhhh! You are startin' off wrong. Any excuse to not be active will do. Shoot, 47 degrees is warm. LOL

Seriously though, thats the hardest part to getting fit. I try to encourage my friends/associates to remove the excuses. Once you do that, its easy sailing IMO.

SHE’S 141LBS IN BOTH PICTURES! It’s aaallll about muscle mass (something I learned the hard way) so congrats for her!

If you haven't been doing HIIT (high intensity interval training) style work-outs before, imma be honest and say yes. I had been doing HIIT and cross-fit style exercises for a few months before p90x. BUT the good thing about it is its done at your own pace and but you can still follow along and/or do it with a group. You will eventually work your way up. It is a commitment though. I would say your beginning level does not matter as much as your commitment level. If youre not committed to working out 6 days a week (sometimes 2xs a day) and eating 200% healthy (minimal sugar, minimal salt, lean meats, 1 cheat meal a week), i'd say don't do it. Its a lot of work and there are other exercises you can do in less time that will get the effects youre gonna get doing 90x if you half ass do it.

I am from California. 47 degrees is COLD... to me! lol

Working out in the cold is dangerous. I am not trying to jeopardize my health for a short run
I'd rather work out tomorrow with the sun is at it's highest

I do spinning 3x a week for an hour.  I guess it's high intensity although Ive been doing it for years and my body is used to it.  I dont feel sore anymore after class so I may try the p90X for the days I don't spin.  Actually I may try it tonight.  I'll report back after I try it.

tbh it was a basic workout around compound movements for a beginner who had never used bars and weights

technically with weight progression it did help with curves

I dont have any full body pics but this is my core after 4 weeks of p90x and I'd stop working out 2 weeks prior because I injured by knee.

I dont really have a 'before' but this was a year prior to p90x and about 3 months prior to me working out period.

If you were gettin bulk muscle, it sounds like your weights were too heavy and your reps were too light, IMO.

If you were gettin bulk muscle, it sounds like your weights were too heavy and your reps were too light, IMO.
< id="_npwlo" ="applicationpwlo" height="0">

i got pretty lean and used very heavy weights...they advise doing more reps (11+) for leaner muscles

but everyone's different

Youre right. Its relative. I used much heavier weights than the chick i was doing it with but I still got lean muscle. And more reps, lighter weight (based on your fitness level) is generally agreed to as the method to get lean muscle. Thats why I dont understand why women have a problem doing 'men' exercises. You can do the same exercises as them as get different results.

Yup, And push yourself of course, but don't beat yourself up if your not where you want to be yet. No matter how slow you run, you're still running laps around the couch potatoes.

After so many times of starting p90x and quitting, i think i just got bored of it overall. I think the farthest i got was in the middle of week 3. A few weeks ago I said eff it, and started Insanity and I'm so far from bored. I'm enjoying it. I start week 4 tomorrow, but I admit, I think after the recovery week I'm just gonnaDead once I get to those hour long workouts. But this man has me dripping sweat by the end of the warm up, so I shall continue on

I'm using the Nike Training club App and I also use HIIT workouts Heart. I have an interval stopwatch app as well.

Dirty Dozen workouts are cool (kinda intense)
Blogilates has decent moves (to tone)

Everyone has to start somewhere! even if you're out of shape you can build your way up.

blogilates (has good toning moves)

I use the Nike training and running apps, I found I run more often and longer with it. I really want to get the zombie running app, sounds fun.
