Acceptable or no? Definitely not in my house. Is it better or worse then washing your hair in the kitchen sink? I saw my co-worker washing his hands in the kitchen sink at work the other day and I was so disgusted. It was like a under the nail vigorous hand scrub too. Dead

Wouldnt you rather he wash them rather than touching the microwave and all that? And who cares about the work sink

Ive heard some people who dont allow it in their houses, which I dont understand, but I abide by their rules

i learned that people are very particular about what they will allow in their kitchen sink.

this thread has potential

to answer OP, if i'm getting ready to cook or if there is someone in both bathrooms yes, otherwise i truck my booty to the bathroom to wash my hands.

If i had my own place i wouldnt want guests or my kids to wash their hands in my kitchen sink

I think for the most part this is a cultural thing.
So I don't get it but I do things others don't get either.
But really you're washing chicken in the sink and if you have a garbage disposal ...

I do remember my mama not liking me to wash my hands in the sink and making me go to the bathroom
I tend to go to the bathroom bc it seems right but the other way isn't really wrong like I'm not flat out disgusted like some are trying to be,

Growing up, my grandma would not allow it.

In my house, I wash my hands in the kitchen sink, although I do disinfect the entire sink area once a week.

I wash my hands in the sink before and after I cook. Also, when I come in late and plan to go into the fridge.

LMAO! Like...is this for real? So if I'm in the kitchen getting ready to prepare food, I should go into the bathroom first to wash my hands...then handle meat...and go back into the bathroom to wash my hands. Makes no sense to me. I have no touch hand soap in the kitchen and both bathrooms. I wash my hands repeatedly while cooking. I wish I would keep walking to the bathroom.

this doesn't make sense, don't your hands go in the dish water?
Do you walk to your bathroom to wash your hands after you touch meat?
Isn't that just more room for cross contamination?

yall do realize that there are more of you reaching for the stars with acting incredulously about going back and forth from kitchen to bathroom and cross contamination than people who said they dont wash their hands in the kitchen sink?

Direct me to the post where anyone said they travel back and forth while cooking.

I'll wait.

I wash my hands in my kitchen sink, even brushed my teeth there.
I'm a suuuuper clean freak so I know my place is clean. I disinfect all doorknobs, fridge doors, microwave, toilet handle, sink handles daily.

Yeah I know you're joking Diva.LOL

Purp, I don't wear gloves for handling raw meat. I just wash my hands before/after I finish handling it. So far no food illness lol. I may try it one of these days.

i guess people just used common sense
if you're handling meat and then you go put pasta on or something i would hope that you would wash your hands before reaching into the pantry for the pasta

if you dont wash them in the kitchen and instead go to the restroom then yes you will be traveling back and forth while cooking

uhmmm, why wouldn't I?
Soap, water, a drain..Same set up as the bathroom sink.
I'm not washing my hands over the food before I cook it.

What's supposed to happen when I wash my hands in the kitchen sink? Are the germs going to pop up into the air and spread spores or something all over the kitchen?

for the posters who said they dont wash their hands in the kitchen sink, i didnt read it as them going back and forth while cooking. I would think they meant just randomly washing their hands whenever.

Why wouldn't you...?

Even if you are cooking or washing dishes, most likely your hands will touch the soap and water.

LOL I didn't know washing your hands was dirty.

Exactly. Which is dirtier, washing your hands in the kitchen sink or not washing your hands at all when you cook?

I wear gloves when cooking because I don't like the feeling of stuff under my fingernails, but mainly because Indian/Jamaican food uses a lot of very hot pepper (Habanero), and the oils from the pepper can stay on your hands for hours even after thoroughly washing your hands. If you touch your body, you WILL feel the burning. You have to be very careful not to rub your eyes or use the restroom (pepper oil can transfer to the toilet tissue...yea). So as a safety measure we wear gloves.

...as for washing hands in the kitchen sink, I use moon tears.

Some of you are going to get wiped out when the next plague comes.  LOL  Your immune system needs practice!  Plus, there's really nasty stuff floating around everywhere no matter what you do.  In fact, most of that nasty stuff floating around is from you.  You are made up of nasty stuff.  Hug
