Topic: We need a section about hair products/regimens.
Posted By: SweetNovember*
Subject: We need a section about hair products/regimens.
Date Posted: Dec 26 2012 at 7:30pm
Where we can ask and learn about different natural items like the different kinds of natural oils and natural remedies for hair as well as commercial products. Many times I don't know what to buy because I know I should be picky about ingredients and so forth. I only recently learned about moisturizing vs sealing and I've heard about the balance between moisture and protein. It would be helpful to those of us just building up our product stash who don't really know where to start.

Who will help me petition for such a section? Big smile

lol i think that's what the hair sections are for though...

i think that fits fine in other sections. just needs a thread

Don't you think we need a master section for it? Because technically there could be threads about hair cproducts/regimens in weaves, natural hair, afros, relaxed, etc. Whereas if we had a master section we could go there and read the tags to learn about others' regimens.

Also if we have a question about a product we could get advice from others who have tried it or who are familiar with the ingredients.

No we don't. Just start a thread for it in the appropriate area.

Soooo if I wanted to know if ORS Smooth-Hold Pudding was a good product, where would I start the thread that would be seen by the people most knowledgeable on the subject?

If I wanted to know what concoctions are moisturizing and what concoctions seal where would be a good place to look? Would I just scan each section starting from page one?

I thought I would have more support than this but ah well, it looks like we won't be getting the section. Cry

That's just asking for another section that'll hardly get posted in IMO.

But there is no central depository for them. They are scattered throughout the different sections. Basic products can be useful to those with many different hairstyles (relaxed, natural, locs, weaves, etc). A person who has locs probably won't be looking in the weave section and vice versa.

Also more people would see the threads and we could get more dialogue on regimens/products. If I post a question in one section a few people may give me one type of advice but if I post it where more people can see it we will get more viewpoints when it comes to different hair types, etc in order to make a better decision because it's easy for a small group of people to be biased or misinformed.

but there's a loc section...repeating what was already said, the search function works well when looking for a specific product.

I think people would love that section. People here are really knowledgeable/particular when it comes to their hair products. Then there are so many hair types. It would be easy to browse through products/regimens to find ones that might work for you.

Granted this isn't the right section, you could just make a thread here or in the natural section which seems to be the most active, title it "How do you like xyz product"

finding a moisturizing concoction is really up to you. Not everything works the same for everyone. It takes more than a forum post to find out the proper information. Internet searches should be done too...

It's not about you not being supported, but it's unnecessary and a waste.

I doubt it. Most people use the search function if they want to find out about suggested products or they just search through the posts that already exist. I highly doubt most people would even notice the section even exists since we already have alot of different hair sub-forums as it is.

No what I mean is...someone may find a great product and post about it in the relaxed section. A person who is not relaxed wouldn't even know about it even though the product is good for all types of hair.

Wow, y'all are stonewalling me lol! LOL

I'm eleven months post too!
