so basically, that black dude on tv was like 'is he a coon or not'

First take is like ESPNs "Baskeball Wives". A bunch of people making money off of athletes and fighting about nothing.

These are RG3's comments that Rob Parker is speaking on I think:

Griffin acknowledged his appreciation for black Washington Redskins
fans proud of his transformative debut season -- and noted how he hopes
to erase lingering stereotypes concerning African-American quarterbacks.

"For me, you don't ever want to be defined by the color of your
skin,'' Griffin said at the end of Wednesday's post-practice news
conference in reference to a question about Martin Luther King, Jr. "You
want to be defined by your work ethic, the person that you are, your
character, your personality. That's what I've tried to go out and do.

"I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don't have to be defined by that.''

The
league's highest-rated passer, who has led the 7-6 Redskins into
postseason contention with 10 of his 18 touchdowns thrown during a
four-game win streak, said he is aware of why so many black Redskins
fans take reflected pride in his success.

"I am aware how much
race is relevant to them,'' RGIII said. "I don't ignore it. I try not to
be defined by it. But I understand different persectives and how people
view different things. I understand that they're excited that their
quarterback is an African-American. I play with a lot of pride, a lot of
character, a lot of heart. I understand that. I appreciate them for
being fans and not just fans because they're African-Americans.''

NFL: http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2012/12/12/nfl-playoff-expansion-roger-goodell/1765357/" rel="nofollow - Could playoff expansion be coming?

Lastly,
Griffin, who has insisted since the February scouting combine that he
is a throw-first quarterback. was asked about analysts who have
persisted in putting him inside a box by comparing him mainly with other
dual-threat African-American quarterbacks.

Griffin insists he wants to be judged as a quarterback. Period.

"We
always try to find similarities in life, no matter what it is so
they're always going to try to put you in a box with other
African-American quarterbacks -- (Michael) Vick, (Cam) Newton, Randall
Cunningham, Warren Moon,'' Griffin said. "Warren Moon and Doug Williams
really didn't run that much. That's the negative stereotype when it
comes to African-American quarterbacks, that most of us just run. Those
guys threw it around. I like to think I can throw it around a little
bit.

"That's the goal. Just to go out and not try to prove anybody wrong but just let your talents speak for themselves.''

based off this the dude on espn was just flaming

I've noticed this just by browsing sports forums though. At least I've noticed in in basketball. White players are compared to other white players and Black players are compare to other Black players.

pretty ironic that rob parker is calling someone a corball. its a shame he expects RG3 to be the stereotypical, egotistic, loud, explicit, controversial black athlete. he's just a humble dude from Texas who likes white women. let him live.

Well liking white women is a stereotype...

However I like RG3. He seems intelligent, like he takes his job seriously and like he has sense. If he's corny, then I like corny blacks. He's not out here getting caught up. I do hope he leaves Becky (I still can't believe that's that bitches actual name) for a sista.

I've always liked Rob Parker I like him way more than Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith.

I always notice that SAS's diction is awkward and bombastic.

If Stephen was getting ready to be critical of the comment Rob made then he needs to remove the speck out of his own eye. Twice Stephen has used the N-word on TV while talking sports. I call him Mr. N#%%a please.

Ugh why did he say that sh*t? My brother told me how ESPN focuses on "black quarterbacks in the NFL" and the way he told me had me cracking up, it just seems like a silly topic. I don't watch football, but I can guess why (white) folks would obsess on a racial topic like that.
Kinda OT, but I was in the bank a few months ago and one of the TVs was on ESPN. Surprise surprise they were talking about "Black quarterbacks in the NFL." One banker acted like he wanted me to get out ASAP

Rob Parker gets 30-day suspension from ESPN for ‘cornball brother’ commentary directed at Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III

The suspension, which might be viewed as a slap on the wrist, comes one week after Parker, an African American, was suspended for insisting Griffin isn't black enough to suit him.

Rob Parker discusses Robert Griffin III and calls him a 'cornball brother' on ESPN.

Rob Parker won't walk the plank.

Parker, who http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/espn-commentator-racially-charged-comments-rg3-article-1.1219891" rel="nofollow - unleashed a racially charged spew vilifying Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III on ESPN's "First Take" has been hit with a 30 day suspension.

"Our review of the preparation for the show and the re-air has established that mistakes both in judgement and communication were made," Marcia Keegan, the ESPN executive who oversees "First Take" said Thursday. "As a direct result, clearly inappropriate content was aired and then re-aired without editing. Both were errors on our part."

Keegan said ESPN has "enhanced the editorial oversight" of "First Take." She said "disciplinary measures" with the people responsible "for these failures" have also been taken.

ESPN's Rob Parker says he has reached out to Robert Griffin III's agent to offer apology.

The 30 days suspension, which might be viewed as a slap on the wrist, comes one week after Parker, an African American, was suspended for insisting Griffin isn't black enough to suit him. "Is he a brother or a cornball brother?" Parker asked on "First Take."

"He's black, he kind of does the thing," Parker said. "But he's not really down with the cause. He's not one of us. He's kinda black, but he's not really like the guy you really want to hang out with because he's off into something else."

Keegan said the incident will not change the direction of the show.

"We will continue to discuss the important issues in sports, including race. Debate is an integral part of sports and we will continue to engage in it," she said. "However, we believe what we have learned here and the steps we have taken will help us do all that better."

On Wednesday, http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/espn-commentator-regrets-rg3-race-rant-article-1.1223667" rel="nofollow - Parker took to Twitter to apologize for his commentary . "I blew it and I'm sincerely sorry," Parker wrote. "I completely understand how the issue of race and sports is a sensitive one and needs to be handled with great care. Last Thursday I failed to do that."

Parker said he reached out to Griffin's agent with the hopes of making a direct apology to the quarterback.

ESPN's decision clearly indicates other production personnel was disciplined for allowing Parker's commentary to run not only on a "First Take" replay but also on "The Best of First Take." It isn't clear if Parker told the producers in advance what he was going to say about Griffin.

Initially, Parker's Twitter account did not reflect the network's concern. He did not apologize immediately, but rather posted tweets either supporting his point of view or his right to say what he said.

Parker, a former Daily News sportswriter who is a TV and radio personality in Detroit, had just been elevated to the primary "debater" on the new Saturday edition of "First Take." His critics have said much of his commentary is designed to draw attention to himself. In this case he's succeeded.

"It's a double-edged sword over there (at ESPN)," an industry source said. "They want these debate shows to be provocative. Then when someone pushes too far, they've got a problem? It's tricky."

Parker clearly took those words very seriously.

Now he'll have 30 days thinking about how to choose his words.
