I share an office with a white co-worker, who works in another division entirely. Today, he and I were joking when his white manager (who never talks to me) came in and said to my co-worker, "What, you're harrassing the help (referring to me)?"

 
I was taken aback because I thought that I had to have been hearing things. Finally, I said "Excuse me?" while he and my co-worker walked out of the office. My co-worker mouthed sorry on the way out and shrugged.
 
Should I confront his manager?

Co-worker came back, apologized profusely and said that he'll back me up at HR.

I partnered up with a random guy (who turned out to be yt) to complete an extra credit assignment. We were working in a study area when someone he knows passes by and says, "hey! Are you tutoring?" Yt people are something else. I don't even wanna understand their warped perception.

You should send an email to whoever you spoke to from hr just summarizing your conversation that you just had. It's always good to have a paper trail of any workplace issues just in case something else happens in the future. If there happens to be a situation where you have standing to file a legal complaint r sue against your employer or an employer, written evidence will be your best friend. Sorry this happened to you OP.

Is there a higher office that you may contact?  I agree with the member that suggested you start a paper trail of the event, the name and comments of the person you spoke with in HR and tell them that you feel you took the appropriate steps in a situation where you felt uncomfortable and HR completely disregarded your feelings.  Plus he is management saying this.  Please, Please, Please stay on this because either he is reprimanded appropriately or you may have grounds to take legal action.

that in itself is another problem...you need to document that as well. start drafting emails. even if you think that nothing will come of it, at least you are reporting it.

OP, please make sure you follow this advice.

I had a former manager I used to report things to. When the sh!t hit the fan, she tried to claim she had never been told certain things. Having that paper trail proved my case, covered my ass, and sent her on her merry little way.

Once they see you're staying on top of it, they'll handle it accordingly cuz every employer and their mama.is scared of discrimination and harassment lawsuits these days.
