Do you have one what and  has their role been in your life??
there is gonna be a christening of a family member and they wondering if god parents are really needed?? and what if if you choose god parents that are not a couple?
most of the god prents I see around don't even spend time with the  child sometime even years is it just for show during the christening ceremony?

i don't think they are required to be a couple.
i think its nice to have them, i wouldn't say needed though.

I don't see the point.
My mother or his would see over our kids.
Then my sisters or my aunts or grand aunts

Special relationships kinda spring up on their own.
I have a fav aunt who treats me special and so do my sisters.

I think it's pointless

i think a lot of people dont know what god-parents are for and use them just to have someone around to buy their kids stuff.  the purpose was for religious instruction in case the parents pass but i dont think people care much about that any more.

I don't think they are required.

I had god parents and I am a god parent. I take it very seriously.

I do think a guardian is required and should be appointed/named (legally) ASAP after birth if not before. Sad as it is, things do happen.

Somebody in the family would have taken care of me if something happened to them

this exactly.
i speak to my god kids nearly every night.
when they were babies... i was their first baby sitter.
they have me wrapped around their grubby little hands.

god forbid anything ever happens to their parents (they are bro n sis)...their parents have it in their will.--- they go straight to NYCDIVA  no if ands or buts about it.

they are currently my beneficiaries....along w/ my sis (until my family dynamics change)

He follows what I'm saying.. I aint gotta twitter shyt.

I have them, and they play no role in my life.
They are back in Houston.. I no longer had a relationship with them when we moved to Dallas in the early 90's.

I am! I am not doing the best job, imo. My big plan is to be able to pay for her to go to private school when she is school age. *crosses fingers*

I am taking her on a cruise when she turns 5.Party

I don't know what I am going to do for her this year. It's hard because I don't have "full" control so I have to circumnavigate her parents.

I have/had a god mother but I don't remember her.

We have willed our kids to family members who have always been in their lives should both of us pass on.

Not needed unless they know the responsibilities.

I thought they were just there to buy kids stuff and their real responsibilities don't really happen unless the parents pass.
