Hi

Booking flights not a problem but accom is!

Where are the hotels where the actual inauguration takes place? walk-able distance or 10 min ride?

I have been quoted 'Best Western Dulles Airport Inn' but checking that out, I don't like it!

Is it possible to get a hotel for a really reasonable price around where the action is?

Please replyLOL many thanks

Well then I don't think this trip is going to happen then!

I am a package girl and don't really know how to look for holiday stuff independently. Flights OK but don't know where to start in knowing what area to stay etc.

DC is a big place. Hopefully someone might know where I need to start.

Dulles is waaaaaay out anyways. You don't want to stay out that way.
Look in areas that are metro accessible via subway such as Arlington, Va (Rosslyn, Clarendon, SOME parts of Alexandria) and Silver Spring, Takoma Park or Bethesda, MD if you aren't having luck finding anything in DC. If you find stuff in any of those areas I listed I think it would be worth it to call and find out the closest metro subway station as well.

You might want to consider airbnb Wink

One word of advice. Get on it...like...today. Now. Immediately. Lol

I didn't have a chance to take a glance at Inauguration day rates/availability.

The hotels are hidden, but if you look at the photos and description, you can google and find out exactly what hotel it is. Usually 50% off expedia, hotwire, etc. prices.

I just took a look for myself.

Washington Mariott - 6 miles from airport..$95.22 per night
Ritz Carlton Pentagon City - 2 miles from airport ..$143.00 per night
Capital Hilton - 5 miles from airport..$134.00 per night

I'm about to book the ritz.

You definitely DON'T want to stay near Dulles. It's about an hour away from DC with no subway access until 2015.

I honestly don't know. A lot of hotels are already booked up. People that I've never met (or don't recall meeting) have been calling my house asking to get a room here.

Best of luck!

If you waited to this point to get a DC hotel, then you are SOL.. Hotels were booked as soon as Ohio turned blue on Nov. 6..

do not stay anywhere near Dulles. that is waaay too far.  you need to get on it bc i was watching the news and they said some hotels will not let you make reservations for less than 4 day blocks.

you could stay in MD but make sure your hotel is walking distance to a metro.  the metro will already be a pain in the butt. wear comfortable shoes! they close so many blocks, i remember my friends and i having to take the most circuitous route home and they wouldn't let us through for awhile.

Thanks for all the suggestions peeps, very kind of you.

Yes I waited kinda late as had to make sure about leave from work as have been crazy busy of late. I will keep on looking - have had a few quotes on the phone but have not been able to follow up as something urgent came up this afternoon.

I am happy to take metro etc as I am not travelling by myself so feel safe. I am just organising it (and doing it badly!)

Many thanks all.

A few of universities with unfilled dorm rooms in the area (students who've gone abroad, students who've yet to return, etc) will be renting out those rooms for the Inauguration. But you WILL have to bring your own linens.

It doesn't matter where it's at.
Just make sure it's near a metro station.
DC ain't as big as you're thinking it is.
