Subject: Telling people where you get your stuff

When people ask you when you got your clothes (like "Omg, I love your boots, where'd you get them?")

To you tell them where you got them or do you lie or say you don't remember....

I have this "secret site" that i shop at and when people ask where I got my clothes, i outright lieEmbarrassed...I know. its horrible but i don't want my coworkers rocking the same clothes I do!

Other women outside of work, i don't care!

What about you?

I never got why this was a big deal.
No matter the cost or place I let ppl know.
If it was a gift I let them know.

This information I understand why women dont want to share because there is the possibility of the demand being higher than supply, which means the vendors will start selling low quality hair out of greed.

it depends..if a random person in a street, yeah who cares.

if its the co-worker that sits next to you that trys to copy everything you wear....probably not.

my co-worker tries to copy me and looks a complete fool. I don't wear a lot black and she said she was going to wear more color. This trick came to work in a tight red dress with 5inch heels and one of the HR ladies had to pull her to the side.

I'll tell em.

Although I might stop pretty soon because a coworker of mine has been annoying me with it lately.
She'll ask where I got it from, how much it cost, and do they still have it in the store? Confused

I have a coworker that recently had gastric bypass. Now granted, when she firts started losing weight, she lost a lot of it quickly, now it has tappered off. At least a few times a month she asks me where I get my pants from and what size they are. She kept asking me, then eventually started asking for my pants. Her excuse was that she didn't want to go out and buy new pants when she'll be too small for them in a few weeks. Like I said, she lost a lot of weight but we are no where near the same size.  It got so annoying, I contemplated bringing a pair of my pants in one day and asking her to try them on and see if she likes them, bu tI thought that would be mean. I've just stopped responding or saying outlandish things when she suggests it now.

lol....

I like to wear COLOR. Now, this company is very lax in dress code, ppl come in hoodies, jeans, sweatshirts..whatever and looks exact like 'whatever'.  I also don't wear jeans, ever. I just don't like them.  So the fact that a lot of ppl here are in what I deem to be "weekend, imgoingtogetsometampoonsandahoneybunfromCVSat10pm clothes" and come in a cardigan set, skirt and pointed toe flats  REALLLLLY  bothers her.

At first, she saw that i wasn't bending to their lax dress style. She would make comments like you should wear jeans. Or you always dress up. My response: im not dressed up. My attire is causal. Then she started coming to work in business suits looking like she was going to an interview. lol...way over the top.

So one day, she says "goodm3" you always dress so "bright". I 'being funny' was like you should challenge yourself to wear only color for a full week. The next day, she comes in with this tigggghhhtttt bright red dress. Her dress looked like this.

I hate copycat coworkers.  I lie to them and send them off.  So when they (just one lady here) try and copy me, they are very confused.  The same lady asked who did my hair and I gave her a disconnected phone number.  The next day she was like Confused.  I was like LOL.

I was flattered. I thought it was cute.

Hub designed my rings and she had always admired them. She said she found some place to make her a close copy. She was open about it and told everyone "I had one made like Purple's" she would also say "mine isn't real tho"   (I didn't know if that was accurate or not and didn't careLOL)

I think most people ask out of niceity.  They give you a compliment then ask where you got it.  Doesn't mean that they actually want it.  It is just something people say.

I share. I'm a chunky butt lol, and I know how hard it is to find trendy, well made, cute plus sized clothes, so I don't mind sharing SOME websites.

Luckily, I run into people who are either still wary of online shopping, or claim I pay too much for things.

Even when I do see people in something they asked me about, I just tell em they look nice, accept my thanks, and keep it moving.

Chances are we don't look alike in it anyway.

Most the people who ask (at work) are bigger than me anyway.. I think they just ask because it's cute, not because they want to go out and buy exactly what you are wearing.

If you do not feel like telling them.. then don't.
They'll live.

I usually spill the beans. I do have a new co-worker who has been taking inventory of everything from my foundation to my hair care/grooming practices to my car to everything else. Just asking nosy azz questions. I've been good at ignoring  her but she'll soon get that send off treatment because she is utterly annoying and slightly creepy.

Skittles! I got it from ThinkGeek.com, but they only have it in black. PerpetualKid has other colors and the company that manufactures the bag is MadPax. They have lots of colors and prints.

I asked my friend if she was wearing Beyonce's perfume.
She got defensive and said yeah...don't go buying it cuz it's my perfume. Confused
I only asked her because I smelled it in the store before and thought it stank Dead

But on the topic: I tell people where I got my stuff...it's no big deal to me. Like someone else said before, they don't run out to get it immediately.

Sure do! Most of my clothes are thrifted so it's not like they are gonna go to Goodwill and find the exact item they asked me about anyway.

That being said, I seldom tell people the specific store I got something. I'm not assing myself out of a score in the name of chunky sisterhood. Damn that.

But good luck though.

^lol

There is this one chick I won't share with. One of those user chicks, who only speaks when she wants or needs something.

She lives in my apartment complex and will practically follow me asking what kinda hair I have, where did I get it from, where'd I get my shoes, oh that jacket is cute, I like that dress, who does your hair.

I'll see her a few days later and she won't say a word as she breezes by me in the shirt I just wore a couple of equal ago. Won't even acknowledge me.

Magically a couple of days later when she sees something else she likes, she's all smiles, waves, and small talk again.

Now when I see her, I suddenly suffer selective deafness .

It depends sometimes I will.  Depending on where I got it.  If it's thrifted I no longer tell people.

Most of my clothes are thrifted or vintage--and people would never know unless I tell.
I used to tell people about my thrift store finds but then I started getting snide comments about wearing clothes that's been on someone elses A$$.  Plus I do buy nice new items from time to time and people would automatically assume they were thrifted..."oh how much did you get that for? Five Dollars?"   And I hated spending a lot of money on something and people just assuming it was used. So now I don't tell.

On My old job there was another lady who I would see at the thrift all the time and I guess she told people and anytime I was with a group of women and she was approaching,  They'd all be whispering "Oh here she come with her ol' dusty thrift store clothes."  LOL

Sometimes if I thrift something that's from Banana Republic, I'll just tell people I got it from BR.
I had someone ask me where I got a shirt from one time and I couldn't remember.  She reached down the back of my shirt and looked at the tag!!!

I want to know this as well. I never had this issue on a job and definitely not in my career. Maybe cause I work in a male dominated field? *Shrugs*

I used to tell people about my thrift store finds but then I started getting snide comments about wearing clothes that's been on someone elses A$$.  Right, as if that blouse they bought off the rack at Forever21 hadn't been tried on by 10-20 people before they bought it.
