I've been using this as a pre-poo treatment on my relaxed hair. The ingredients were already in my kitchen.

Avocado hair mask

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Mix until creamy and then apply to your hair. Leave for 30 minutes and then wash out. Shampoo as usual.

I used the exact same mix as my pre-poo, it works really well.

I'm going to give this a  try again. The last time I didn't wait for the avocado to become fully ripe, so I had avocado bits all throughout my hair after I washed it out.

I wanted to love this too, the first time I used it and I think its just like MissMesha- I didn't allow it to ripen. I will definitely try this again although I am loving my oil mix pre-poo.

can you do this a a dc instead of prepoo so you only rinse out or do you need to shampoo it out?

yea, if i put anything on my scalp it gets unbearably itchy. So I tried to avoid it as much as possible. but next time I'm puttinh oil on my scalp first.

Avocado hair treatment is a very good natural way of getting good hair. It is important for people with dry hair. You can find some the methods of using avocado here: http://www.hairplugstips.com/avocado-hair-treatment/ - avocado hair treatments .

I have the same question as Jaymd. What does this mask suppose to do for the hair?

I have dry and fine hair and I learned a similar avocado masque recipe (half an avocado + a couple tbsp of warmed up olive oil). I left on my hair for 20 minutes and my hair looked shiny and healthy.

Then one time I decided to leave it on my hair overnight...and it made it so heavy and gross. The results lasted several washes and many days. I was really pissed.
Another thing I did wrong was the amount of avocado I used. The first time I used about half an avocado but it was great. Then for some reason when I used the same amount or less, it made my hair look bad.

I haven't tried this recipe in a while and keep thinking in giving it another try since my hair ends look pretty dry.

I am just wondering what Avocado does for the hair though? Is it a moisturizing softener or a strengthener?

I'd like to find a nice hair mask to prepoo with ... I just want something that will moisturize.

My hair is so dry lately, I think I will do the hair masque again.

this is still a pre-poo i haven't tried yet and seems to be the simplest and cheapest one that is known to work wonders.

I have not done this treatment for quite a while, it's time to revisit it. There are so many natural products that can be used to condition the hair, I have been trying them all. No problems so far

I saw a similar recipe on a hair site with half a banana as a dc. My hair was really dry afterwards. I'll stick to avocado and olive oil as a pre-poo. Works great on me.

Has high amounts of Vitamins A, B, D and E, minerals, lecithin, insulin,
and unsaturated fatty acids and is an excellent moisturizer because
of its emollients. Emollients are known to soften skin and hair without
leaving an oily residue.
