as a child my mother normally used it as a DC with a steam cap, nvr on the scalp. And also she only bought from specific persons b/c some ppl add salt in it when they make it, which I always was told was not good for using in the hair.

For MN, there really isn't much to say,

just that it does work, but it gives headaches as a side effect.

You should add boundless tresses and castor oil!

Hey there Hunny B. I think you've started a valuable post that could be a Sticky in future.

Kindly consider adding this information under the MN title. I would quote the original post by Sidney, but its archived so I've just pasted it here and you can decide which sections you want to use under the MN title:

An Explanation for why MTG and MN work
Posted: 04 May 2006 at 2:42pm
http://talk.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=23139" rel="no follow - http://talk.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=23139

Hay ladies, it's Sidney.  I am a newbie but I have been lurking on this and other forums for more than a year.  I want to address why MTG and Miconazole Nitrate do worK!

First of all, I tried MTG.  And like many of you, I got patches of new hair growth.  After being phased out by the funk, I decided to just use the sulfur oil.

Also, you know the ladies that co-wash all the time and get super growth, well here's why.

All the people who have chronic hair loss, usually have some type of persisting fungal or bacterial infection.  MTG contains  cade oil, which kills this bacteria and fungi.  Helping the hair to grow.  These nasty bacteria not only block your pores, inhibiting growth but they also can eat your hair!  EeeW! so disgusting.  (See the links below).  They probably also secrete nasty toxins and wastes after they are done feeding off your scalp. They scalp is moist and is a great environment for them to thrive.

Also, look at women of other races.  They wash their hair frequently, getting rid of these nasty microbes, and lo and behold, they have long hair.  Black women wash less frequently.  You ever had that nasty, stinky hair from not washing it, well that is a tale-tale sign that there is a fungus on your head.

Minonazale Nitrate is also antifungal, so it keeps the scalp clean and allows your hair to grow.  Use sulfur?  Well I just read online today that Fungi hate Sulfur and there is a sulfur containg product called "smelly soap" that is used to kill these fungi, hence MTG helps since it has cade oil and sulfur.  By the way, if you are using MTG, u should shake it up to make sure the sulfur at the bottom is getting on your scalp.  Well, this is just my two cents.  sorry its soo long.  Off to wash my hair, again!

Well- I have the Megatek, and the JBCO pictured. I've said that I was going to start using my MT/JBCO mixture more consistently before trying the Bee Mine but I think I'm going to give in a bit.
-
Does anybody know if it's okay to use the Bee Mine & the MT/JBCO at the same time without side effects?
-
Darn....I was doing so good on my PJ-ism.....haven't bought any hair products since May. I'm going to stave off the Bee Mine purchase until August.   Thumbs%20Up

Thanks HunnyB! Lots of good info! Thumbs%20Up

There's only 1 change I would make which is removing Jojoba oil from the essential oils list and include it with carrier oils.

Big%20smileThanx...I just changed it to Oils
since the mass majority of carrier and essential oils are used 4 growth.

When I used them consistently for about 6 weeks, my nails grew super long (they never do this usually). It is hard to tell on my hair because I just BCd, so my hair still looks super short

However, i won't buy it again. its super expensive and if you look at the ingredients, a mixture of Biotion, MSM, and multi vitamins would give you the same result IMO.

this was in the first 7 - 8 weeks of joining BHM def new and good hair practices along with biotin and MSM gave be a good " 2 inches" Ive nvr got that much growth/retention in such a short time
my hair was probably just overjoyed for some nutrients and good care

may 9 2009

exactly 1 year later - using supplement (biotin, MSM) MSM both internally and topically - may have added some sulpur for a short stint. also used henna for strengthing.

basically hit a wall after this had MAJOR issues with my ends --- u all can check my fotki "road to APL" album

started using MT in dec of 2008, what I got from MT was stronger, shinier, thicker more "horsie" looking  hair and I love it !!!!!!

I most def got growth from it but since I was battling a never ending battle with my ends, there wasnt much progress to show IN LENGTH.

Im too lazy to put links to my albums so u all can check the "2009 1 full year of haircare" album

I think the trick (as with most products) is consistency

For the ladies using a MT/MN mix...are you applying this directly to your scalp via applicator bottle and massaging it in or are you applying it to your new growth ( a little confused on the best approach)

**goes to buy some sulfur powder while I wait on a response***Wink

I love this thread.

May I add two other great products that I use off and on that I found very beneficial to my hair.

1.  Claudie's Hair Elixir
2.  Hydratherma Growth Lotion

Both products give me great growth and thickness.

Awesome thread! I have been looking for growth aids! And found this website! I am wearing weaves back to back, so with a nozzle, i should be able to get to my natural hair and apply growth aids!

Thank u ladies 4 the info, and I hope this helps any1

1. MT/MN mix goes directly on the scalp...some ladies add MT from root to tip....

MN can also give u a headache (really depends on the person), so mixing it is a GREAAAT idea...

**I'm hoping to update this thread by Aug. 7th

I use:

1 tsp sulphur powder
1 tube of MN
1 oz MTG
2 oz MT
1 oz JBCO

just start using this so cant really say how well it works but I got this from someone who gets about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of new growth per month.
