I had problem with dry skin for awhile, I was at a modeling camp and a good remedy for treating dry skin I learned is to put baby oil on you while your in the shower or tub. As you rinse off you can tell a big difference. Especially once you dry off!!!!

Quick, warm showers followed by applying pure jojoba oil afterwards is working for me so far. I got some jojoba oil from the bss but it had others oils and a fragrance in it which broke my skin out. So, I tried a pure one I got at Whole Foods and love it so far!

So, the jojoba oil seemed to be working but now it's breaking me out too. My face is a mess! I'm now trying Aubrey Organics face cream for sensitive skin #6. I kept the receipt in case this doesn't work either.

I occasionally use Aveeno Oatmeal Bath Treatment for dry skin.

Also, after showers I will mix oil ( vitamin E ) with my moisturizer.

It's a shame we don't take it seriously HOWEVER the cure for dry skin is very apparent & an essential in EVERY home (get rid of the vaseline) Shea Butter preferrably unrefined Ivory to Yellow in color. Black Soap is another essential (use GENTLY) of course when theres many Important ingredients you should be GENTLE with your face & skin. No need to keep spending countless of dollars on MANY DIFFERENT products when using what Our forefathers & mothers have been using for years STILL works EFFECTIVELY...Shea Butter & Black Soap...used correctly, consistently & gently...peace...

Yeah!! I agree about the shea butter a 100%!!! Whip that shea butter up with some aloe vera gel and glycerin, and you've got the best moisturizer for the winter. However, in the summer, I find shea butter to be a little too moisturizing. I end up just using glycerin and aloe vera in the summer.I didn't  really like the black soap though. I got the PURE kind straight from ghana, you know, the one that looks like turds. But, I found it to be very harsh on my face, and drying. Didn't like it.

Coconut oil can be a very good solution .Coconuts are among nature's brightest moisturizers, centuries old and wise with penetrating fatty acids that freshen and lighten the skin.

This will help in lightening your skin, softens blemishes and takes away sun tan and also make your skin fairer and smoother.

As soon as I step out of the shower, I slather olive oil all over & wrap a towel around myself. 5 mins later, pat dry and follow up with a thick moisturiser such as Shea or coconut butter. At the moment I'm using Lucretias body butter which consists of about 5 natural ingredients.

I'm trying out pure vegetable glycerin.....it seems to be working well to help winter dryness. I'm a vegetarian and I eat lots of fresh fruit, I think I should take some vitamins also...any suggestions?

I use an Oil of Olay in shower moisturizer and then follow up with Eucerin when I'm out of the shower. I have super dry skin - especially in the winter time - so I have to do double duty.

However on my face, both of those would be way too heavy & greasy & end up causing breakouts. I just use Aveeno's spf 15 Essentials on my face or Neutrogena w/SPF 15

The best way to combat dry skin is water. Drinking water is essential in promoting skin circulation and a much cheaperoption than all these expensive creams and lotions. Eating more fruits and veggies that have high water content melons, oranges, pineapple and cucumbers.

Food that are high in Omega-3 fatty acids like salmon (which I personally love) tuna, avocado, flaxseeds and walnuts. You can also get these in vitamin supplements. Foods rich in vitamin A (dark leafy veggies, sweet potatoes and pumpkin).

We have to combat dry skin internally not just externally. I always had dry skin all my life and this has help me in combating this problem. I also make sure when using lotions, I look for alpha hydroxy acid in the product. It helps to gently exfoliate and slough off dry skin. My favorite is Eucerin containing alpha hydroxy. If you want to use more natural products, I agree with the other posters on coconut oil, shea butter and jojoba & vitamin E oils.

Be careful with the baby oil.
This product contains a petroleum or mineral oil base which is not good for sensitive skin types and it is difficult to absorb and will clog the skin pores. I was never a fan of baby oil.  IMO; it always made my skin greasy.

I've had dry skin on my hands and elbows for a while and regular moisturizers just get soaked up so easily that I have to keep applying. Then I started doing some work for Eucerin and I have to say when I tried it, their lotion worked the best for me. A little bit goes a long way.

Nice sharing dear but according to me you should wash your skin with milk. not milky product. Just take some fresh milk and wash your face with it. It is really useful tip for dry skin. But if you can't do that then take a pinch of butter and rub it on your face. It is also good way. Must try it.

I love a long hot shower and it's the easiest thing to dry your skin out.

What I would suggest for anyone struggling with dry skin and the shower is:

Try try try avoiding hot water and if you do get those important parts clean and jump out.

While most soaps and some body washes can be high on the ph scale, try using ones that are natural.

Research which herbs and oils (that are used in natural soaps) that are excellent for dry skin e.g. jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil, neem oil).

Moisturize with a ph balanced cream (not lotion, unless if you prefer lotion).

I like buying ph strips and testing all my products to see which i should use and which I should toss.

It's all about researching, experimenting and using what works for your skin.

Hope this helps

Hydrate your skin by drinking plenty of water every day and avoid long sun exposure. Use a moisturizer and hydrating body lotion. If you are going outside wear protective gears like sunglasses or a hat. Avoid using harsh soap or body wash it may dry your skin.

Hello, I am Tisa Smith From New York

Here I have suggested some of the http://www.sureviagra.com/treat-dry-skin-with-effective-home-remedies. - effective Tips to get rid of Dry skin

Mix a few drops of olive or grapes seeds oil in bathwater & hop in, or apply a thin layer of oil to the body after showering

The necessary protein, fats, & vitamins in moo-juice can help ease rough skin.

Hot water robs skin of moisture reasons dry skin, thus it's best to shower in lukewarm water.

Add moisture.

Body creams are intended to keep moisture

Skip the Drying Soaps

Omega-3 fish oil medicine may soothe super dry skin

Take unboiled milk Dip a pad of pure cotton wool & generously apply on the neck and face. Keep it on for 15 - 20 minutes & clean off.

Coconut water is one of the best natural moisturizers.

Yogurt applied on the face gently eliminating flakes of dry skin.
