Another tip on syn's  I use Soft Sheen Carson's Weave Care line on the SLF my family wears,  This stuff is great, there's a shampoo and best of all an conditioner as well as a Heat Protector spray (this spray has a warning not to use on your own hair) Weaves & Wigs only. so for the heat resistant unts this is a plus.

yep CARSON'S weave care line is the TRUTH!! GREAT for SLW's! i also use SIMPLY STYLIN silicon spray (pure silicon)- ya'll this stuff gets the job done!! it'll make ur SLW or even weave/human hair look brand new!!

Posted By: blackbarbiedoll
Date Posted: May 27 2009 at 7:19am
oh and anyone who is into heat resistant SLW's should consider investing in a MAXI GLIDE. i used mine on all my heat resistant wigs and it's safe and makes the hair act/look human. it uses STEAM which we all know is best for synthetic hair. i had some WA WA tracks that i added to a HHLW for density/length. the tracks were too curly so i used the Maxi Glide to release some of the curl pattern and now the weave matches the HHLW perfect! i also use it on my BJ Emerald to keep it extra sleek.

I have been lurking around the forum for awhile reading all the information.  I do a lot of research before I do anything.  I am thinking that perhaps synthetic is the way for me to start.  It's in my budget right now. I have one question.  Do they do any of the synthetic with lace all around?  How secure is the back...can you wear in a ponytail.  Doesn't sound like it?

Posted By: ilovelife
Date Posted: Jun 03 2009 at 8:47pm
alot of slw are lace fronts only meaning they have a lace front and wefted hair in the back like a reg wig. some av and cv have lace all around the unit or the lace in the front, a bss slw has lace in the front but the lace back about 1-2inches not allowing freestyle parting

you can have your synthic unit custom made any way you would like it.My sister just got hers and she order a full lace for her synthetic  unit.so she can put in a ponytail and part it any where she like just like the human hair full lace wig.He unit is very pretty.by looking at it you can not even tell that it is synthetic it very pretty.I am going to place me a order for a silk top synthic unit this week,my vendor make them any way you like.

So are there any vendors that have hhlf for about the same price as syntheticQuestion.....becasue I found this bad slf for about $50 and I think it would be a good investment I dont want to ruin a really nice expensive one on my first application.....

^^^ITA. For those of us that are NEWBIES in the LF game, there's nothing wrong with practicing with a SLF unit. If I had bought an expensive unit on my first try, it would probably be in the trash right now. I'd rather "waste" $50.00 than $500.00.

Exactly.  Unfortunately, that already happened to me.  Had it professionally applied, but I wasn't specific enough with the stylist and she whacked off much more than I would have liked as she "layered" it.  Sort of got angry after that and didn't really care to maintain it.  My fault entirely, but I will be sticking with synthies until I can find what I'm looking for in higher quality human hair.

I received my SLFs from a CV and am wondering if I should wash it first? This is my first go with them and I'm not sure if it's safe to wear. I THOROUGHLY wash my wefts and am wondering if I should do the same with the SLFs using a detangling shampoo and conditioner before wearing it. Any suggestions ladies?

I don't think i'll ever be going back to HH lace fronts. I LOVE LOVE my synthetic. It's going on like 4 weeks, and it looks better than when I bought it. The ends got a little hard and frizzy, so I gave her a good dunk in some diluted Cream of Nature (green bottle), and flat ironed the ends with my FHI on LOW. It come out beautiful and looks human.

1. Where to I purchase fray block?
2. Where to I purchase simply styling silicon spray.
Thanks ladies

Fray block can be purchashed at fabric stores like Jo-Ann's or Hobby Lobby. I think Wal-Mart might sell it too in the sewing/crafts section. As for silicon spray, that I believe can be found online. Don't have any sites in mind, sorry!!

this search is out of hand...... theres no michaels, jo ann's, and sewing shops forget it......... there about 1,000 of them. Are there any ladies who didnt purchase online but in a store. No walmart and walgreen is my last result there are only 3 of those in NYC.(FRAY BLOCK)

If you can't find the Fray Block, look for the Got 2 Be Glued Freeze spray in the yellow aerosol can in the hairspray section. It works just as good as Fray Block in keeping your unit from fraying. Wink

...but i'm unsure what type of lace she's giving me...the other pics in that collection appear to be "real" lace...transparent in color...which is a great deal better to work w/ than the porch screen ish on other SLF's...

here's a pic of another one in that line that u can actually see the lace...

also...this hair is Natura...I've rocked with Futura hair in the past....but im curious to know what is the difference between the two...if any at all

many thanks in advance

^^^That would be me. I ordered "Cinammon" in late April and by early May it was a tangled mess. Please, please, please, if you're gonna spend $100 on a synthie, you might as well just order the real deal from a CV. That's what I'm gonna do!!!

I randomly picked up this product from Walgreens about three weeks ago, because my SLW was outta control...and it is great!!  I have been using it about three times a week on my wig and it does not look shiny at all.....7 bucks well spent Smile

I was commenting on a previous post...I thought that it shows the original post when you reply?  Anyway, the product that I am talking about is the  SoftSheen Carlson moisturizing spray for synthetic hair.

^^^^Most can be heated as high as 200 degrees. Freetress futura fiber is 400 degrees.

Since synthetic lace wigs are so reasonable i would just rather buy a straight one and a curly one and just leave them as is.

I will be making my first online purchased from eithier Haley's or Wagman my question at this point is how are the closure peices installed can they be sewed on. I don't want to jeopardize my edges or hair in the front for any reason i find that people that do tend to end up having to wear lace fronts and peices in the end cause they be don damaged their hair in the front so bad. Thanks any feedback would be appreciated

Here are some links to youtube vids of various synthetic LFs. Most of them look like they would need A LOT of tweaking

i ordered from LHB also and had the same experience. The hair tangled easily worse than any wig ive owned.  Problem is I paid much more than ever before for a slw.  The lace was soft but other than that 2 thumbs down. (sorry don't remember the name but is was one of the "signature" synthetics)

Now I'm a little worrried, I ordered 2 slf from LHB and should be getting them tomorrow or Monday. I called and asked if the wigs aren't the right color etc..what are the options of returning. The rep said that they can exchange unused wigs but no refund. I'm ok with that.  I'll let you know how they look when I get them.

Hey everyone,

I'm a newbie here to the BHM, but I'm not a newbie to lw. I have been lurking before I actually joined because I actually enjoyed reading what everyones thoughts and views were about lws. Anyhoo..... I personally prefer slw over human because I have tried both and slw are less maintenance for me.
