The Jane Carter Solution "Nourish & Shine #175"Question
Ingredients: Natural Butters, Essential Oils, Vitamins

Is anyone familiar with this product. My friend has it in her very fine dry hair and it moisturized it wonderfully without heaviness.

thanks.

CryMy hair gets sooo dry. I go to the Dominican salons like once every two weeks for a wash and set and a deep conditioner. I use really good products, but can't really find something to moisturize my hair with. I donít really like grease.

I find it to be too heavy. I wrap my hair, and I like it pretty light and flowie. When i use grease or a cream-example (Mango butterPinchThumbs Down), they tend to weigh my hair down, and it really messes up the texture.  Anyone know of some sort of spray, or oil, or grease thatís really light, and will allow me to keep a light but moisturized texture. The lighter the better!!

Products i'm using:

Breakthrough Shampoo (Great Slip!!!ClapThumbs UpHeart) Can't beat it!!!!

ORS olive oil treatment in the yellow packet( Thumbs UpThumbs Up)

Aphogee- I use every now and then Thumbs Up

Miazsassy, have you tried NTM Silk Touch?  It has an extremely light texure.  It's so light that when everyone was raving about it at lhcf I was skeptical beacuse I tried some on my hand at a store, and thought it was way to light to effectively moisturize.  But I took a chance on it and now see what everyone is talking about.  It's a great moisturizer that makes your hair soft and smells great.

Also Profective makes an oil sheen which is a great moisturizer.  I use it when I want to keep my hair swinging out of a wrap or rollerset.  It has no mineral oil, and contains everything good like olive, coconut , jojoba and castor oils, cocoa & shea butter, vitamins A&E.

Mizsassy! "Nourish & Shine #175" has done wonders for my friends hair. She too has extreemly dry hair and scalp. The hairdresser mixed it with a light oil just prior to wrapping and blow drying her hair. It was amazing! The texture that had looked like 'pillow-rub' dryness was smooth and whole-the shafts that is. Her scalp was shiney and moist. Yet, when I touched her hair, nothing was left on my hand. I never heard of this product and wanted to know if it was for oily scalp patrons also. I have oily scalp with dry hair. I have been using older products: New Era 2000 Hair Reconstructor, Mizani Shampoo, Hask Henna 'n' Placenta, and Profectiv anti-tangle leave in. The oil is wonderfully light that I use just prior to flat-curling: Ashea professional Lite. My products are working, but I wanted to get an even lighter oil. It does rub off on my hands and the
"Nourish & Shine #175" seems to do that.

Big smileThanks! Priestess, For the info.

I'm sorry, I new to the site Embarrassed. does NTM stand for something? and is it a cream or a grease or spray?

I just need something to keep my hair lightly moisturized, and not kill my wrap. I also want to be able to put a little on my ends, like every other night before i wrap it up for the night, and wake up and look like i slept in a jar of grease. LOL  LOL

Thanks for the info.

Thanks gurl !

Can i find it in any hair store?

Hi Mizsassy, NTM stands for Neutrogena Triple Moisture.  It is a lightweight cream leave in conditoner.  It is very popular and ideal for sets.  They also have a serum in the line that I use to seal ends and to moisturize and shine to set hair.

Verifen Complex

I've been using it for years, and it's fabulous!  Check out their website at http://www.hairoil.com/" rel="no follow - www.hairoil.com .  These products don't need "doctoring up;" in other words, you don't have to add any oil, honey, glycerin, etc., or anything to them.  Nor do you need to do a hot oil treatment, pre-shampoo treatment, conditioning wash, etc.  Just use them straight from the bottle/jar.

Motions Moisture Plus conditioner
Cream of Nature Moisturizing/Detangler Shampoo
Africa's Best Herbal Oil Complex
Hairobics Oil, Detangler Oil, hair and scalp booster

I doubt I could survive very long without my Shea Butter and Mango Butter. I just wouldn't make it, I don't think. They do a good job.

ok, here's the deal guys. i was reading certain posts in a forum, am not sure whether it was this web site or another one.  Anyways the post was asking people what their favority moisturizers were. the ones that people applauded the most were s curl, hawaiian silky 14 in 1 and some other ones.  so today i went to the store to buy some hair and i saw the hawaiian moisturizer for the first time...being all excited i bought it.  i tried it, but it doesnt really do it for me so i checked the ingredients and it says that it has mineral oil.  is dis really bad?

there is no moisturizer that keeps my hair moisturized at least so far...ive tried s curl, stasoffro and now hawaiian silky...ive heard people rave about just water and glycerin, where can i buy just glycerin?

thanx in advance for all the responses.

linda86111, I purchase glycerin from CVS in the health/first aid section. One bottle of glycerin usually runs me about $3.49 (so it's fairly inexpensive). I purchase between 2-3 bottles at a time. I use the glycerin/ water mix as a daily moisturizer. It is wonderfulBig%20smile HTH

I discovered sof n sheen by pro-line today. It comes in a brown bottle and I love it! Its made for curls, but I tried bc it has glycerin and water in it as the first ingredients. i figured it would be a good moisturizer too. And ladies, now my hair is so smooth and soft, I just can't keep my fingers out of it.
But I did use some oil on my hair first, vitamin e oil. I think that helped bc this product has glycerin and water, but no oils. Actually when I first tried this product, I didn't like it bc my hair was still dryish, but using the oil first changed all that. Its a great spray on moisturizer.

I also like just 4 me, that's a good moisturizing spray too.

Others are:

shea butter, hair oil, preferably coconut, aphogee protein treatment, and plain old, non drying shampoo. Breck is a fav bc it doesn't dry, it comes in a big bottle, and its only a dollar at the dollar store.

chi silk infusion
chi shine infusion

They're very light products. I use them on my clients that get blowdrys.  The hair is protected by the silk infusion and it makes it feel realy soft like silk.  And its not greasy at all!  Just a little drop is all you need. And I usually finish with the shine infusion.  Just a quick spray around the head.  The hair still flows and has a nice silky shine to it without being heavy, greasy and weighed down.

I like to use natural product
Recently i have been using MeritVCO virgin coconut oil extracted from coconut milk..its one the best product i have ever used.

here are some basic fact about virgin coconut oil.

MERITVCO VIRGIN COCONUT OIL BENEFITS

I found the following information from various sources over the internet:

You can take coconut oil both internally or externally. Those who are proponents
of this cure do both. The typical amount to take internally per day is 3 TBSP. It
is recommended that you take 1 TBS with every meal. Coconut Oil apparently gives
an instantaneous energy lift and may help you give up caffeine! Many sports nutrition
bars and drinks include coconut oil for its energizing properties.

Warning: Coconut Oil is contraindicated for those with hypertension / high blood
pressure! But if you suffer from low blood pressure, this is a great remedy for
you.

Lots of research has been done on the subject of Fatty Acids and Monogycerides (found
in coconut oil). Some of the reported cures from research are:

WEIGHT LOSS:
Promotes loss of excess weight by increasing metabolic rate; Is utilized by the
body to produce energy in preference to being stored as body fat like other dietary
fats; Helps prevent obesity and overweight problems;

SKIN/HAIR/BEAUTY
Applied topically helps to form a chemical barrier on the skin to ward of infection;
Reduces symptoms associated the psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis; Supports the
natural chemical balance of the skin; Softens skin and helps relieve dryness and
flaking; Prevents wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots; Promotes healthy looking
hair and complexion; Provides protection form damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation form the sun.; Helps control dandruff.

VIRUSES/BACTERIAL INFECTIONS/FUNGUS/PARASITES
Studies have found that coconut oil can kill viruses that cause influenza, herpes,
measles, hepatitis C, SARS, AIDS, and other illnesses. It also kills bacteria that
cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, gum disease and cavities,
pneumonia, and gonorrhea, and other diseases; Kills fungi and yeasts that cause
candidiasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, thrush, diaper rash, and other infections;
Expels or kills tapeworms, lice, giardia, and other parasites;

Coconut oil may provide an effective defense against many parasites including giardia.
Like bacteria and fungi, giardia can't stand up against MCFA found in coconut
oil. Research has confirmed the effectiveness of MCFA in destroying giardia and
possibly other protozoa. By using coconut oil every day, you may be able to destroy
giardia. Another possible use for coconut is for the removal of intestinal worms.
In India it has traditionally been used to get rid of tapeworms. In one study it
was reported that treatment with dried coconut, followed by magnesium sulfate (a
laxative), caused ninety percent parasite expulsion after twelve hours. In India
coconut oil is also rubbed into the scalp as a treatment to remove head lice.

CHRONIC FATIGUE
By taking coconut oil daily, you may also be eliminating the possibility of developing food allergies, chronic fatigue, and other related symptoms. If you're currently troubled with these conditions, coconut oil used liberally with meals may provide a source of relief. Because MCFA are quickly absorbed by the tissues and converted into energy it seems logical that those suffering from chronic fatigue would gain a great deal of benefit.

DIGESTION:
Coconut Oil provides a nutritional source of quick energy; Boosts energy and endurance, enhancing physical and athletic performance; Improves digestion and absorption of other nutrients including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids; Improves insulin secretion and utilization of blood glucose; Relieves stress on pancreas and enzyme systems of the body; Reduces symptoms associated with pancreatitis; Helps relieve symptoms and reduce health risks associated with diabetes;

BODY/ORGANS
Coconut Oil reduces problems associated with malabsorption syndrome and cystic fibrosis; Improves calcium and magnesium absorption and supports the development of strong bones and teeth; Helps relieve symptoms associated with gallbladder disease; Relieves symptoms associated with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and stomach ulcers; Improves digestion and bowel function; Relieves pain and irritation caused by hemorrhoids; Reduces inflammation. Supports tissue healing and repair.; Functions as a protective antioxidant; Helps to protect the body from harmful free radicals that promote premature aging and degenerative disease; Helps relieve symptoms associated with chronic fatigue syndrome; Relieves symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement); Reduces epileptic seizures; Helps protect against kidney disease and bladder infections; Dissolves kidney stones; Helps prevent liver disease; Supports thyroid function;

CANCER:
Helps protect the body from breast, colon, and other cancers;

HEART:
Is heart healthy; improves cholesterol ratio reducing risk of heart disease; Protects
arteries from injury that causes atherosclerosis and thus protects against heart
disease;

TEETH:
Helps prevent periodontal disease and tooth decay.

COCONUT OIL FOR POOR CIRCULATION
Do you feel cold much of the time? You might try coconut oil, which is said to increase body temperature (and blood pressure). This is due to the increasing metabolic rate as medium-chain fatty acids of the coconut oil are burned.

CURE FOR ATHELETE'S FEET
The 8% caprylic acid in coconut oil is said to be effective against fungus, and
on skin conditions like planter's warts and athlete's foot.

CURE FOR ROSACEA ( Skin Burn )
Used externally and internally, we read one report on the internet of a 15 year
bout of roscea clearing up within 2 weeks with Coconut Oil!

Mizsassy, I like my hair light also (I call it the white-girl hair). I would really suggest Chi Silk Fusion. It hydrates my hair, but it doesn't weight it down. I don't like grease, not only because its bad, but the texture itsn't bouncy or light. I use the Silk Fusion before I sit under the dryer/before I blow dry.

New to site. I looked, but can't find info on the following three products:

Mixed Chicks Leave in Conditioner
Kinky Curly Custard
Mixed Roots Conditioner.

Most interested in the last one. I usually don't use hair products except natural oils because I find that eventually, over time, the product will make my hair drier. However, every once in a while, I get curious and adventurous.

I tried the Mixed Chicks (I am 4b). It added too much volume and dried out my hair. I am thinking that the Kinky Curly will do the same. They sound really similar. Has anyone compared them?

I read about Mixed Roots on Amazon. So I'm a curious about it.

I mentioned somewhere else on this forum that my hair shrinks a lot. Looking for a completely wash and go product that controls shrinkage AND is natural and won't dry out my hair.

If you know of something that fits, that description, please post or email.

Thanks!

For some reason, my hair ABSOLUTELY LOVES a product called Perm Repair.  Y'all probably know it, it comes in a white tube (or tub) whit magenta stripes.  It is an old school product, but it does exactly what it says.
