Sometimes ppl use these words for sensationalism alone.
I think that was the case with her blog entry.

Why?

I find this to be the case for most of the cases when " misogyny " and " misoandry" are thrown around between the sexes.
People use these words for fodder and I don't think her use of the word was appropriate.

Sounds likes something I would have said just after finishing Women and Gender Studies 101

But....why do you find her use of the word unnecessary and inflammatory?

I personally think it's appropriate. Misogyny is a strong term to use but I do believe it correctly applies because let's be honest, the society we live in is highly patriarchal and patriarchy in America is strongly fueled by misogyny.

Now when she uses that term, I don't believe she means it in a way where she implies the guy hates women. But the way he thinks of women is a product of misogyny. This guy has internalized misogyny so he operates accordingly.

It's like a white person not meaning to be racist but doing and saying racist things without the intent of hatred.

And I think people confuse patriarchy and misogyny.

Well some people think they are one in the same but I disagree.

The black men who love black women genuinely without some backhanded crap usually show their love. They can talk about it, but they prefer to be about it because it's natural.

But if you'd like an accurate image of the average user of the term "black queens," have this photo of BlackHairMedia member Midwest Messiah, free of charge! Big smile

LOL this guy is innocent until proven guilty.

but it was a spoken word event so all he can do is speak in that short time.  i don't put it past a guy to be on some b.s. but i'd need to hear it.

You know, the Black community (and BHM by extention) does not spend enough time analyzing the psychology behind Black male privilege, entitlement and misogyny for us to clearly understand the the problem with statements like the one that spoken word artist made

I think it's wrong that Kim Kardasian suckered Kriss Humprifree into marriage just for ratings. marriage is sacred. Now her dented ass in pregnant by Kanya and isn't even divorced yet. It seems weird

I don't believe they are the same. But due to societal attitudes and history, it seems they can easily go hand in hand which is why they are often confused and equated.

I do my fair share of studying on these matters not saying I'm an expert.
I disagree with her point .

BHM ( Alias) feels like if you aren't in agreeance with her then you must be missing the point
