I actually just got em changed this past week, lol.

There's a piece that's inserted into your skin (the base) that screws into the piece that you actually see (the top).  When I want a different set I just go to my piercer and he unscrews the top and puts in another set.  I have stars now; I just had jewels before. ^_^

No, they're pretty permanent, although I did have to get one removed and redone about 3 months ago because it sank into my skin after I accidentally stretched the hole during "cuddle time."
