Why we mad? Why he mad?

That's the nature of being in the public eye. The public doesn't owe anyone support and can criticize however we choose.

I don't care all that much but Pharrell clearly is not here for black female consumers, which is why our voices are so easily dismissed.

When he was on the urban music scene, he featured Lauren London and Lanisha Cole. Now that he's a mainstay in mainstream media, he features "racially ambiguous"Ermm or rather racially "unmarked" women. But hey, isn't that how it always goes?

I thought Nicki Minaj's "looking ass Brotha" thread and responses was a great example of this

That's how it goes nowadays. Wasn't always this way. Remember the videos in the 90's? Black women of all hues everywhere and that didn't stop those cats from selling records to whites. It's this idea that it's the only way you can go to sell records to whites when it's been disproven in previous decades that bothers me. These black men are in a position of power, being influential in the media like they are. They shouldn't contribute to the problem. It wouldn't have killed him to have ONE visibly black woman on that cover that you don't need a microscope to figure out that she's black.

I remember your commentary in this thread. I guess I didn't care in this case because I felt her message was being drowned by the 150 times that she said "niccas" but I get your point.

^ Her song was trash (like always) but I thought the male reactions to it was very interesting because they were always dismissive to our struggles but they were upset when the tables were turned.

I hear ya. I noticed it in the thread, I just didn't comment. This lack of regard for black women's experiences is kinda hard to digest from black men. This shyt is expected from the white folks but when it comes from your own, it leads to a lot of gas.

"racially ambiguous to some degree" is the issue here.

She doesn't look racially ambiguous to me.. (even with the blond hair).
And nice Tea CC.. you always come through.

Are you one of those "color blind" people Oodles?
Not insinuating anything just asking.

in short, no..im not
not as a means to be naive, ignore, distort, and exploit.
as it relates to our history..our complicated history with white people..

my views on the creative process are pretty objective though.
imo that process is in another realm thats abstruse.
(I only expect creatives to understands)

lastly.. i tend to have an open handed approach to (most) things.
I'm not the venom spewing type.
