No it cannot be another sexual orientation.

Talk about this and homosexuality being correlated in that sense is offensive because the two are incomparable. Sex between two consenting adults cannot be compared to sex with children.

After reading the article, though, that's not quite what I got from it. They are saying there may be a genetic link to pedophilia. That...may be possible. But I would think there was something wrong, like an extra, missing, or "broken" chromosome. It will still be disgusting as hell...it should NOT be seen as acceptable behavior and should continue to be punishable by law.

Oh and I hate how they brought up the guy who watches child PICS, but fought the urge so to say. He may not be directly harming that child, but in production somebody/people are harming said child, and contributing to such acts. Therefore in my eye, though he may be "struggling" he is just as guilty and wrong as someone who directly hurts a child.

it would be a good conversation, you do it. lol

but i feel like people on this forum don't really think that way and if they do they're not going to admit it...from my experience it's common.

anything is possible. But it is less probable and more effective than not doing anything.

No one wants anyone to know they are on pedo pills.

I think most would try to deal with it themselves and end up hurting innocent kids.

That is what a lot of them do now, just like with mental illness. They self medicate and treat. I remember a special on a pervert priest where he stated that he chose to join because he wanted to get as close to a sanitized life as he could to help control his urges. He thought he could pray the urges away and sadly some children suffered because the temptation became too great and he ended up having trust and easy access.

I didn't see them say anything about fixing it.
They say they may have find the roots of the problem that's it.

The article said that 1-5% of men have a sexual attraction to children. From the things I've read, there are almost no females that actually have a sexual attraction to children. When women molest children it tends to be a byproduct of  personality/mental health disorders or as part of their own abuse (for example, they're with a man who is abusing them and he wants the woman to participate in abusing a child).

I'm wondering if there's something about women that makes it almost biologically impossible. Like because we birth the children, evolution/biology made it impossible for us to also be attracted to them in that way (because if we were and procreated with them the human race wouldn't really survive).

Idk just throwing things out there.

I didn't even look at the article. I'm reacting to what maysay posted. And brainstorming ways in which we can make children safer.

My blood boils every time someone says this about a child. I honestly wanted to punch one of my aunts in the face when she said this about one of my 9yr old cousins. She's gotten the perma-sideeye after that.

And I want more studies on this.

I'm not about to concede that pedophiles are these innocent ppl trying to fight the good fight but they just cannot help it.
